Ok, they just voted along pure partisan lines to not subpoena any documents from the White House.

Next, they’ll vote not to subpoena any evidence from the State Department.

Nice to know the trial is going to be really serious and fair.

While I was pretty sure it was going to be a sham, I had been hoping that a handful of GOP Senators (such as Mitt Romney who occasionally pretends to have a spine) might have had the temerity to vote for allowing evidence to be brought forth.

I foolishly had the same hope for a while, but we should know better. It’s like Collins being ‘concerned’ about things, it never actually leads anywhere.

Nice to know the GOP Senators don't think we - the citizens - deserve to see all evidence relevant to the alleged charges.

They voted to "table" the amendment. They didn't vote to not see the evidence.

FYI: The House is supposed to provide the evidence that they used to impeach the president. The case is supposed to have already been made and supported by the time it goes to the Senate so it shouldn't really be an issue.

This is what can happen when no solid evidence is found.

We're talking about removing a sitting president from office.

This calls for undeniable evidence of a crime.

Which you’re not going to be allowed to see.

FYI:

“table, motion to - A senator may move to table any pending question. The motion is not debatable, and agreement to the motion is equivalent to defeating the question tabled. The motion is used to dispose quickly of questions the Senate does not wish to consider further.”

Trump was chosen by God and can not lie. Trump said he didn't do it and that is good enough for me.

He also said the Continental Army took over airports during the Revolutionary War and he wanted to promote lasting peach in Israel. He thinks he's a very stable genius, but comments like that are odd.

It doesn't make any sense to make arguments without all the evidence - evidence that this President has blocked entirely. And btw, past Senates have admitted additional evidence at the start of the Impeachment trials.

Was it not the job of the House to gather this info?

They knew before they impeached that the president has executive privilege to do what he did.

But they chose to do it anyway for spite.

Let's see, is there an election coming up soon that this all could place the president in doubt? Sure there is, but they are not fooling anyone but a few who choose to believe their lie.

It’s funny that you mention the election. Let’s say that the house had spent months going through the courts trying to force Trump to release the subpoena’d documents and witnesses. Ok, it’s now October and the house is ready to start impeachment. Sound good? Wouldn’t sound at all like politics was being played?

The POTUS does not have executive privilege to flatly refuse any and all impeachment inquiry request for documents and/or witnesses. If he did, the impeachment power of Congress is meaningless.

So let him testify! Sadly, Donald Trump has been caught in a great many untruths. Granted some are out of his ignorance and poor education but a great many are indeed outright lies. As a narcissist he will lie to make himself look good --- he hardly even knows he's doing it.

Then the Democratic House should have had the spine to pursue that in court; they didn't. Guess they figured they could force the Senate to do their work for them....they couldn't......tsk, tsk....

If he doesn't, why did the House not pursue it?

They would have gone to court and lost.

But you and they will say, we have to do it now. lol
