Jon Hollis, who is running for the Los Angeles-area seat held by Schiff since 2001, has filed an ethics complaint against his opponent based on the 2017 call, in which a phony Ukrainian politician claimed to have graphic photos of the then newly-inaugurated President Trump.

“This letter serves as an official complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) regarding Rep. Adam Schiff’s illegal collusion with foreign entities and misuse of taxpayer resources for opposition research on political enemies.”​

On April 10, 2017, an assistant to Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Donald Trump’s campaign for possible collusion with the Kremlin, patched in a long-planned call from Andriy Parubiy, the speaker of the Rada, the Ukrainian parliament. Parubiy said he had some potentially explosive information about Trump’s visit to Moscow for the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.

Rep. Schiff told the pranksters, “All righty. Good, this is very helpful. I appreciate it. ...We will try to work with the FBI to figure out, along with your staff, how we can obtain copies.”

It's not as though he were soliciting information for his personal use or trying to strong arm a foreign leader by withholding fund already appropriated - sure, he got pranked, as did several Republicans including Donald, but he was funneling it through proper channels as part of the investigation the committee was already engaged in.
