As to not posting in the Adventist forum I appear to be calming down and re-thinking things. There are too many interesting points to post on to just leave. Sorry for causing a scene.
I am still working through the other issues.
Hey Tall,You didn't cause a scene Tall. We all get disheartened from time to time. I'm glad you've decided to stick around, and I mean that sincerely.
I see a huge spiritual battle going on for you Tall. That tells me two things. 1. Satan would consider you a huge trophy, because 2. God loves you very much.
I know that when you talk about leaving Adventism that you don't mean you'll leave Christianity as a whole, so I pray that you find the answers you're seeking. Of course we'd love for you to stay in Adventism, but you'll still be our brother even if you don't.
I just would really be shocked if you suddenly started talking about doctrine like the rapture or something like that....but I don't think you'd do that in the Adventist forum without expecting some thwackings. HA!
God bless you brother. Rest assured that God will win FOR you.
Many blessings,
~Lainie
hi since this is your first time here let me give you the rundown. There are about 4 different groups, the traditionalist and the conservative believe the SDA church is the "true" church. the evenglicals and Progressives are a little more flexible on this issue. This is my first time here....I'm not of your faith, and know very little about it, so I hope you'll allow my intrusion....I've read a couple of the posts, and find it interesting that you hold your faith to be more "truthful" than others....yet I know the Catholics and others also believe THEIR doctrine is the real truth. How can there be so many......ONLY OUR TRUTH IS THE REAL TRUTH...when so many are different.
With respect, Grannie....
how you answer this question will determine weather you are a historic/traditional or a conservative SDAI believe in Adventism that the real question is this.
Did Jesus Christ come with a sinful nature like we have or did He come with a sinless nature?
The first part is that if Jesus came with a sinless nature just as we have then for me to get into heaven then I must become just like Christ and overcome just like He did.
On the other hand if Jesus came with a sinless nature then my right to heaven is that I accept Him as my Saviour and although through the power of the Holy Spirit I will do everything possible so that I will not sin but becvause I have a different nature to Christ I understand sin in a different way and realize that I will never be perfect on this earth until "glorification" at the Second Coming of Jesus.
That maybe a very simplistic view of Adventism but breaking it down that way sums up how I see the issues today in our Church.
In other words it is a works Vs grace type of salvation.
is this an EGW quote.Satan and his angels exulted as they discovered that the Son of God had taken upon himself the nature of man, and had come to be man's substitute, to engage in the conflict in our behalf. The human family had been overpowered by the deception of the enemy; for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, and the enemy hoped that Christ also would become a victim to his seductive wiles. Satan gloried in the opportunity of besieging the Son of God with fierce temptations. Because he had taken upon himself the nature of man, Satan deemed that his victory was certain, and with every malignant device in his power he strove overcome Christ. The steadfast resistance of
Christ to the temptations of the enemy brought the whole confederacy of evil
to war against him. Evil men and evil angels united their forces against the Prince of Peace. The issues at stake were beyond the comprehension of men,and the temptations that assailed Christ were as much more intense and subtle than those which assail man as his character was purer and more exalted than is the character of man in his moral and physical defilement. In his conflict with the prince of darkness in this atom of a world, Christ had to meet the whole confederacy of evil, the united forces of the adversary of God and man;
but at every point he met the tempter, and put him to flight. Christ was conqueror over the powers of darkness, and took the infinite risk of consenting to war with the enemy, that he might conquer him in our behalf.
could you produce a bible quote on this, from a source that we can agree on?Satan and his angels exulted as they discovered that the Son of God had taken upon himself the nature of man, and had come to be man's substitute, to engage in the conflict in our behalf. what is wrong with you that you do not understand that the main page is for all SDA's. We are having a discussion and there are some SDA who do not accept EGW as a binding source of authority. They see her as having devotional valure only and not a source of doctrinal authority. The assumption that you make is that EGW's view is correct on the matter. That is something that should be posted in the Traditional SDA sub-fourm. Out on the Main page the Bible is the only common source of authority and is the only agreed upon rule of faith. It is nice that you have EGW to back you up, but it is not acceptable to others. Fish out of water. You cannot quote her in a doctrianal disscussion and have it respected because it is not agreed upon.Yeah, so?
what is your point. that the SDA's offical postion is in support of EGW as a source of authority. We already know that. This from the 28 Fundamental Beliefs:
18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

no dan. in a dotricanal discussion you can only use the bible as a source of authority in a common area. if it a discussion about EGW fine. But we are having a doctrinal discussion. EGW to some some is not a source of doctrianl authority. SO NO DAN YOU CANNOT USE EGW IN THIS DISCUSSION.So I can only express my opinion in the TSDA forum, but those of the opposite opinion can express theirs in the main forum?
So the official SDA belief can only be expressed in the TSDA forum?
I don't even consider myself to be TSDA!
