If only there was a way to 'anti-bump' a thread - post in it and send it to the last page of the forum.

Have you ever heard the expression here: God works in mysterious ways?

It's not just a platitude, it's Biblical.

Let us suppose for one moment that your god is real.

Perhaps if it wasn't so bent on working in "mysterious ways" maybe the number of believers in it would be more that 1/4 of the population of the world.

End moment.

Now i need to listen to U2.

What you're suggesting is that God pay a visit, in Person, to every single person on earth and perform some miracle or sign for them.

What happens after this generation is gone?

Should He continue to the next? and the next? and the next?

I submit that, if He came back to do what He did during His first advent, they would crucify Him again.

I can't say what would be required for the other 3/4 of humans who are not christians. If your god appeared to me, I'd say: "OK, it exists." but I wouldn't worship it.

Did this thread ever have anything to do with creation/evolution? I think that's where I am right now. [Checks footer.] Yep, that's where we are.

And if, as you suggest, he was to return 'to do what He did during His first advent', and was crucified again - would that also be his plan?
Good point.

But it wouldn't stop unbelievers from trying.

What's that saying?

"They that don't believe the past are condemned to repeat it"?

Meh - if whatever happens is God's plan (and God 'moves in mysterious ways', so the plan is mysterious), then people should stop fretting about it and get on with their lives.

Yes. I mean he either wants us to know him or he wants to be mysterious. He can't have it both ways.

Those who don't learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.
So if we learned our lessons we won't let Jesus slip away again after the Crucifiction.

Really?

You gonna hold Him with some man-made contraption?

John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

In my experience, "God works in mysterious ways" means, "Stop asking difficult questions and just accept what I say."

Did you see the series of questions that God asked Job?

Some seventy questions, almost all, if not every one, having to do with His creation.

Saul of Tarsus was so affected by God's mysterious ways, he became the Apostle Paul.
