I believe that the problems plaguing America are the results of seperating God from this country. So many philosophical, moral, and political bombs are destroying this country already because people do not use the Bible as a foundation for their lives. If everyone could do this, this country would be better. Not counting abortion, America has the highest murder rate in the world. Maybe due to the fact of lack of fear since the death penalty was taken out. Crime has increased. The morals are in shambles. Divorce rates are higher than ever. More than ever, we need God's help in our lives to keep us strong during this time. Society is getting worse in the fact of mocking Christians. It might turn into persecution someday. May God help us in these following years. What do you guys think?

I share your sentiments.... but I'd note that persecution has already
been going on and it's getting more serious by the day.
I know its not so much physical persecution to the point of martyrdom
in this country - but there are other forms of persecution going on that eventually do lead to the physical over time.
(ie. imprisonment, financial losses, lawsuits, etc.).

When a country turns against God willingly, this is what we can expect.

What always makes me wonder is why European countries don't have
the same high violence rates when they're very liberal...
seems to be mostly us & I'd like to know the spiritual reason for it.

Biblically we do see certain spirits working in certain countries like we read in Daniel... I dunno.
But we can't expect to see blessing from God when so many are fighting Him at every turn. The atheists have been awakened & are asserting
their force openly now. This didn't happen 10 yrs ago.

God only knows what will happen.

 Hi

Slavery & Jim Crow laws, Native American suppression, exploitation of women and children in the workplace~the historic "Christian America" was great if you were a white land owner family, others not so much. Problems were sewn into the fabric of the nation at its inception-trusting that humans were basically "good" and that the most important things in the world were life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The scriptures I read do not say these things are the most important things in the world-rather it is loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and loving your neighbor as yourself. A Christian may look at the "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" through a different lens, but most of American is not Christian, and I'll say it generally never was. It was certainly more "religious" in the past, but as history has shown that religion tended to be self serving with notable exceptions. Government can certainly be helpful, and Christian influence can be a great asset to any nation's government yet many have an underlying idea that if we had a Christian president and an all Christian congress making all Christian laws somehow we'd have the Kingdom of God right here on our little corner of earth...Therein is the seed of destruction with the "American" way. [Overall it's been somewhat preferable to all the other systems out there, yet Nadiine raises a point as to the interesting American differences to the Euros regarding violence, something I've not put much thought to but interesting nonetheless.] It becomes about me and mine and everything else is way back in second place and by God the government better defend to the death my way of life. Perhaps that is why we see statistics showing "Christians" having the similar issues at similar rates to unbelievers with divorce, drug/alcohol abuse, etc.

What has to be the bottom line is that it is the Church~the collection of believers, the Body of Christ~that is our true "nationality". Allegiance to any "nation" other than that is simply another chain to drag around, and the Cross is enough to carry. The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Man are and will always be in conflict in this world on some level~yet when Jesus walked the earth He showed us the way of love. While some look at the current "battle", the "Culture War", as a some kind of combat to engage in the public square to return America to its "roots", it becomes then a battle against flesh and blood, often having to resort to a "Lesser of Two Evils" philosophy in the war.

After reading the New Testament I would recommend this title for some insight into the current state of affairs with Church and society: Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne. He gives some interesting insight that, unlike some that are about hating America (or whatever country they are from) it is about loving and serving others more than self, and not "love" in some new age everyone-hugfest, but in Christlike sacrificial way~~and seeing beyond national borders, that the Church, our nationality, is global (yah, "global" sounds so New World Order but universal is even worse ;) ) and caring for our brothers and sisters all around the world has to take precedence over nationalism issues.

It is sad to see things "falling apart". Having the bible as the foundation of our lives is important, but as we can see even here at CF people read it in so many different ways. Even within a tiny "Conservative" forum we can see differences that seem insurmountable (start a discussion on baptism or election ;) ). There are a myriad of cults out there that have the bible as their "foundation". Sad to say that often when say "just follow the bible" it is more like "If everyone just understood the bible like I do", because most everyone thinks they are right and others are wrong. Having the bible as the foundation is not enough~consider this passage:

1Ti 3:14 –1Ti 3:15 NKJV
These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly;
but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Going beyond the discussion of what constitutes The Church suffice it to say that it is the Body of Christ (and not just American or White or European Christians, but all who call upon the Lord to be saved in all lands all over the world), and within that Body we'll find "the pillar and ground of the truth".

:sorry: guess I got a bit chatty :sorry:

Many European countries do not have a large violence rate due to their relatively homogeneous populations. However, this is changing. Take a look at the out of work, discriminated against Islamic "youths" in France.

Look at the dramatic rise in crime in England. The crime rate in America has been relatively stable FWIW -- and actually going down slowly each year. The problem is that the media has found out that reporting crime gets better ratings than reporting, "Man helps neighbor".

By the emphasis on evil in this world, the media continues their assault on the goodness. They have made us distrustful of our neighbors, making us believe that anyone can be a child molester. We then teach our children that people are to be feared when most people are good.

It has taught our Catholic brethren to fear their clergy. I could go on and on. But oftentimes things are better than we perceive them to be.

First, allow me to state that you are wrong about the murder rate in America. First of all we are listed as number 24 on the list of countries where a person is most likely to be murdered. The countries ahead of us are Colombia, South Africa, Jamaica, Venezuela, Russia, Mexico, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, New Guinea, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Zimbabwe, Seychelles, Zambia, Costa Rica, Poland, Georgia, Uruguay, and Bulgaria, in the order from greatest to least. And yes this is inforfation from one site, which claims to be the most up to date, but I have researched it many times and have never found that the US have the highest murder rate in the world. About abortion and all this other sin, let it roll off your back like water off of the back of a duck. It will always exist, and you can not exterminate it. But the main problem here is you, quiet honestly. Do you know what the average American sees about Christians? Whatever makes the news, like the cult Westboro Baptist Church with their signs that say "GOD HATES [wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth][wash my mouth]!" and "GOD HATES AMERICA!" Seeing that own the news, what is the average American going to think about Conservative Christians? That they are all crazy fascists. You're problem is that you post on a board where you know people will aggree with you. It is akin to desertion. If you want things to change, stop complaining about it, get off your butts, hit the streets, and make a difference. Knock on doors and spread the word of God's great love. You will be rejected more than accepted, but any true Christian would accept this. Because one day you may find a convert, and then you will have changed the world. So stop complaining you Arm Chair generals, and do something about it.

LOL! Sorry, I've never seen the [Wash My Mouth] tag before. Forgive me, please. I wase only quoting what their signs read, not trying to be dirty.
No, it's okay. I've seen it a lot. It's better than typing the actual words. And about the murder rate, yeah I honestly didn't know that. Lol! You've never seen that?

Yeah people think we're nazis. It sucks. I guess I'm going to have to the get off my butt and do that. But how? I'm a fourteen year old in a house with parents that will not let me go anywhere alone or with anyone they don't know. Probably the only way that will happen is if my school does a trip for it. It's a Christian school.

I agree with you. The Bible says that in the last days mockers will appear. They are here now.

Yeah, because it's the negative that hits the headlines. But if you were to see all the GOOD Christian media that never gets a mention in the secular press you wouldn't be able to accuse Conservative Christians of what you just have. But a few screwball fanatics get featured and you tar the entirety of Christianity according to a few bad examples. You believe that ALL Conservative Christians are the cult loonies just because you saw a few negative soundbites from a fringe lunatic?

It's you who needs to get out more instead of being brainwashed by the media that we are all represented by a FEW minority "crazy fascists."

Yeah people think we're nazis.

Because they believe everything the media spoon feeds them? It doesn't reflect on us if people are gullible enough not to question the media and its portrayal of anything.

I watch Christian news and media because we have a 24hr Christian broadcast, it paints a very different picture to what gets fed through secular press. But if I solely relied on the secular press for who and what Christianity is and who are Christians, it'd be slim pickings and very negative ones at that.

I don't get why the media criticizes Christians like that. Are they getting paid for it?
no, we seem to be the only group they can attack without public
retaliation... they can get away with it if it's about us.

Why can't one of us retaliate? I mean if there are Christians that can do that, why don't they do it?

Every other religion can be glorified in print and the media except Christianity. This is a relatively recent phenomenon too. Look at the old movies where Priests were held to be wise and good men. Now, they are shown to be corrupt and child molesters.

Sure, there are some bad priests. But why can't the media show the good side of our Faith? There has been some serious Christian bashing in the last few decades. The foundations of our Faith are what has led to the compassion we see in our societies today compared to where the world was 2000 years ago. Look at the portions of the world that has not found Christ. They have been backwoods, corrupt and dangerous places to live for the innocent.

The media irks me to no end.

I don't need a government to live by God's rule, I just need His word in the Bible and prayer. God's power is stronger than any law, we all know that. Want to end abortion? Do what you can to help spread the word of God, make efforts to create and make known services for pregnant women & promote adoption and pray unceasingly.

As a matter of fact, we as a nation spend more time online or messing with electronic gadgets than we do praying. We don't fast in prayer. We can point our fingers at others and blame the government or the media all we want but that finger better sway right in our own faces to take part of the blame as well.

You completely misunderstood me. I didn't say I believed that. But for people who are nonreligious this is sadly the view of Conservative Christians that they do get to see. As much as I hate Westboro Baptist Church for spouting out their hate, at least they get out in the streets and show their views. I'm saying that if we must make this world a better place, we should be as vocal as they are but about God's love.

No I would never ask a 14 year old girl to go out alone. But if you want to know how to do something, you're asking the right man.

Go to your pastor and tell him you want to start a ministry team to spread the message of God's love. Have him anounce it in church to get volunteers.

Then have someone think of a slogan and a cool design. Have this printed on t-shirts and have everyone where them. Something like, "First Baptist Church Ministry Team Spreading God's Love to One Soul at a Time." This gives you an image that people can easily identify, which is what you want.

Find a place with alot of people walking around and everyone go there during a busy time of day. Remember to do something fun, like holding up large signs telling everyone that you are giving away free hugs.

When someone comes up to you hug them, smile, say something short like, "Jesus loves you and so do we. We'd love it if you came to church on Sunday." Then give them a flier with inspiring Bible quotes and the address of your church and the time Sunday School and service starts.

Remember to always be positive. No matter what other people do. Don't argue with or try to correct anyone. Also don't expect immediate success. Alot of people will try to annoy you or ignore you. But be patient, because you are doing God's work, and if you do this every weekend for months and speak to thousands of people only to have one person show up at church and get saved then that is one more soul given to Christ.
