Instead of flour, use black beans to make brownies. Blend black beans, cocoa powder, coconut oil, vanilla, eggs, and chocolate chips. Place in oven for 20 minutes, then serve.

Quinoa Cookbook: Harness The Power Of An Ancient Superfood

Quinoa is not only delicious but has quite the history. The Inca’s referred to it as the “mother seed” and considered it sacred. It was their staple food for almost 5000 years until the Spanish conquistadors almost made it extinct when they made it illegal to be grown.
It wasn’t until the 1980’s that it was rediscovered by some Americans and started to be grown again in Colorado. That little seed thankfully refused to disappear.

Not all people have the same reasons for avoiding wheat, the most well known avoidance is for gluten. But for some people that may not be the case. Most people with Asian and some people of Native American ancestors have a higher probability of re-acting to modern wheat products. I generally avoid wheat products from a commercial store. However, if I bake the bread, myself, I can handle that albeit that's rare and far between. But there are other foods that I too can't eat, so I understand trying to avoid certain foods for better health.

    I am ecstatic! :clap::clap:
I was looking around the internet the other day to see if there were any new GF cold cereals on the market place. After my heart attack last year I took to having to eat certified GF oatmeal. Now that is fine for the winter time, but in the summer it's a drag.

    But guess what I found???

My favorite cold cereal of all time and heart healthy to boot, Cheerios is now made Gluten Free! !

I am so happy. They apparently developed a process for removing any foreign grains before processing. On a rare excursion outside my home yesterday because the weather had finally gotten out of the heat wave and I could breath well enough we went to the lake for a picnic and on the way back I stopped at the grocery store to see if they had it in yet as the article I found on it said they would be in the stores by July (this was in February). They have a nice section for organic and GF which I usually shop in but instead I first went to the regular cereal isle. I looked and looked and was surprised that Cheerios now comes in so many flavors, last I knew it was original and honey nut, not there's all kinds and supposedly the GF is to be of about 4-5 of the flavors too. I didn't see it at first, I grabbed a box and read all four sides and didn't see anything about GF, so I put it back and was ready to walk away when I saw on the bottom shelf more 'regular' Cheerios and there was a 'stamp' on it that said Gluten Free. I quickly grabbed three boxes in case it wasn't in my local store and happily had my first bowl in years and years.

I love the toasted oat taste that is only lightly sweetened, I even eat these as a snack without milk and such.

I hope if there's any other Cheerio lovers out there that you can find these in your local shopps!

By simply removing stray wheat, rye and barley grains from the Cheerios' oat supply, Cheerios will still have the same great taste, but will be gluten-free.

Feb 11, 2015 - Beginning in July, five Cheerios products will be going gluten free: Original Cheerios, Honey Nut, Multi-Grain, Apple Cinnamon and Frosted.

    These are the five here

    Persistence gives U.S. gluten-free Cheerios

It was a bold step. Years in the making.

This stamp is what to look for since they are making the others too in the same looking boxes.

Hi! How long have you been gluten free? It's so much easier today than it was just a few years ago.

I will definitely read through this thread at some point! I love too many foods with gluten in, however I would like to see whether a gluten free diet would make any difference to my life.

Some say it does, health wise, I have to be on it because I have Celiac Disease so it isn't easy. But just eliminating things like white flour, sugar, msg and such can make a big difference. They say if you can't pronounce it in the ingredients section, don't put it in your bod!

    Good advice!

Sugar has always been my vice and I am trying to cut down on it! I love pizza too, and although I try to reguarly make my own "pitzah" (matzo pizza), it has always been a lot more convenient to order a Papa John's, complete with white flour and gluten :p
Did you just stop eating everything immediately when you were diagnosed, or did you cut out one ingredient at a time until you had cut all of that from your diet?
