Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Trump lawyer Giuliani: ‘The simple fact is, we don’t need courts’; state legislatures can decide

If at first you don't succeed... or at second, or at third.... or at forty-fifth...

This scares me. Trump lost the election, Biden won. No evidence has been offered that shows any significant voter fraud, which is why Trump keeps loosing in the courts. I suspect that most voters would not want to give up their votes and turn voting over to their state legislature.

    Is anyone seriously buying this?

If they didn't need courts, why did they go to courts in the first place?

And whatever happened to all that enthusiasm conservatives had for taking this to courts and settling it there? That sure died out fast over several weeks of losing.

It’s all show to keep fundraising. Trump has built quite a war chest with this con. It’s the best con I’ve ever seen.

Which makes the Rudy sex shop/crematorium/handy man presentation even more ironic, where he stated "the media doesn't decide elections, the courts do"

Anyway, apart from the fact the legislatures have already performed their constitutional duty and made laws that the popular vote gets the electors, apart from the fact laws are very, very rarely retropsective, apart from the fact enough states have democratic governors that will veto new bills to prevent the flip, apart from the fact 0 states have called the special session required, and apart from the fact the states have until safe harbour to act....

    Yep, Rudy's right on track!

It is scary, and unnecessary. All states have laws for doing a popular voted for the whole state (except for the two that don't) and it would be hypocritical to change it now just after a vote.

State legislatures have already certified their votes. The outgoing president tried to persuade Michigan to overturn a 170,000 majority vote for Biden and it didn't work.

State legislators have to run for reelection every two years. The public will hold them accountable for disrespecting the vote of the people. And so, besides being dishonest and manipulative, such an action would also be personally risky for them.

We're not going back to the Constitution, because we are already there. And Giuliani isn't the one who decides how we do our elections. It is, in fact, up to the state legislatures. And they've all decided to hold public elections that are used to determine the electors. It would be quite illegal for them to change the rules after the election has taken place, and they know that, so they won't be doing that. Giuliani as a former mayor should know that very well, so his argument is completely delusional.

Now, the legislatures could certainly decide to change how the next election is run, dump the public presidential elections, and just choose electors directly. Somehow, though, I tend to doubt any of them will be doing that, considering the likely response by the citizens of their states.

Party of law and order is less about law and more about enforcing their particular order on everyone else through whatever means they think they can get away with.

Well, there were a lot of women and minorities that voted for Biden. Going back to the original version of the Constitution would remove those votes and let Donald win. I think, I'm not bored enough to run the numbers based on something some old ranty dude said on TV.

Privilege to vote... You've got to see it like they do. Voting is a privilege which must be kept out of the wrong hands at any cost...

It is all in the hands of the electors now, the only people in the US who actually get to vote for the president.
