It's getting a bit more frequent. The last two times this happened, the entire ice shelf desintegrated.

Idk get the big deal? Ice breaks off all the time, it's natural, then ice melts into water, then it evaporates, then the cycle starts all over. There cooling, and heating periods, it's all natural! If your all so concerned why are you all in modern houses, on phones, using electricity, and traveling by driving? that stinks of hypocrisy!

It is estimated that, should the ice shelf collapse, the water levels will rise about 10 cm. That would put many island nations in dire straits, especially the poorer ones who can't afford to build huge dykes.

Ice breaks off all the time, it's natural, then ice melts into water, then it evaporates, then the cycle starts all over.

I'm not sure you fully understand this cycle, or you would realise that evaporated water doesn't turn into ice by itself. It has to be cool enough for that to happen, or it just rains, skipping the ice step entirely.

Also, as has been mentioned before, this is not your garden variety iceberg. This is an iceberg a quarter of the size of wales or, if european geography is not your strong suit, the size of delaware.

The current speed of global warming is not natural. The earth heats up far too quickly, and during a time of a solar minimum.

If your all so concerned why are you all in modern houses, on phones, using electricity, and traveling by driving? that stinks of hypocrisy!

Natural disasters don't care if the people talking about them act hipocritically, they just happen. They don't look if their proponents morality check out and quietly leave when it doesn't, so whether or not anyone is driving with cars has no influence on the facts.

Now what's interesting is what I've been saying in another thread. We don't know what is going on and all this could very well be natural. But all the doomsayers claim to know that all the climate change is human caused. It's just speculation from those who want us to be responsible for destroying our planet so they can control people into doing what THEY think we should be doing. Too many unknowns and too many problems in the man caused change ideas. Yep the climate is changing.

Many scientists think it's natural. A great many are willing to admit we don't really have enough data to say what the cause is.

This is going to be the single biggest recorded iceberg in human history. Normally, ice shelfs just melt or loose comparatively small ice chunks. It happened twice before in the last few decades, with the larsen A and Larsen B shelfs, and both times the shelfs disintegrated.

No-one said that it is solely because of global warming, but it appears to be a contributing factor, with water temperatures rising about half a degree.

Didn't find anything in the articles about this. Propably not, any wave it would cause would likely disperse in the southern atlantic.

Scientists are predicting that sea levels might rise by about 10 cm if the whole shelf collapses (like it happened with Larsen A and B).
