  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'd say two possibilities - either the Trinity, or it's a royal "us".

For those who don't know what the royal tense is, a king, for example, might instead of saying, "leave my presence," would say, "leave our presence" - referring to himself in a plural sense as a sign of sovereignty.

Greetings BrianJones,
In Genesis 3:22

Then the LORD God said, " Behold, the man has become like one of Us,.....

Who is Us?
Could be the angels who represented God and spoke for him. A careful consideration of Genesis 18 reveals one angel appearing to Abraham and then departing, but the expression is "God departed". Similarly Genesis 19 God appeared by means of three angels, while one spoke with authority, bearing God's name. Genesis 1:26 appears to be inviting the angels to participate in the creation of man and woman "us" "our", but this is summarised in Genesis 1:27 as God creating man and woman. Psalm 8:5 coupled with Hebrews 2:7 show that the word God "Elohim" can include the angels.

Kind regards
Trevor

Genesis 3:22
22And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Take it in context. God is talking about mankind. God wanted us to remain faithful to him and not sin, but after Adam and Eve sinned, mankind will get to know evil just like God does. So "us" is God and the angels in heaven.
