I have so many questions that I can't find answers to. I'll start with just a few.

1. What is god? Is he an entity, being, creature, thing...?
2. Is he the only of his kind or is he part of a race of god-things?
3. What did god do before he made us? Are we just one of his many projects?
4. Why did god make us in the first place? Did he "need" us for some reason?
5. If god is all-knowing then he knows what it would take for me to believe in him. Why doesn't he provide it? Maybe he doesn't want me.

Thanks

I feel previliged to answer this question for u my friend. God is the father of Jesus before their was even a jesus and even before their was even us their was a man name adam and a women name eve who was put into the Garden of Eden as well with other animals by god. He is the only one of his kind their are no other gods or even godesses but instead it is only him and jesus. Before God made us he created planet earth which took him seven days and he rested on teh seventh when he was done which is today sunday! God at first had tention of making the garden of Eden and having Adam and Eve praise and worship onto the lord through the Garden but when they got tempted by satan and ate the fruit of life that is when God stricked down on them and saw the flesh as sin and made the women to conseve children onto the earth. If god gave us everything that we wanted then we would be spoiled and not wanting to listen to him. He does know what it takes to get into ur heart and that is him speaking to you all you have to do is open you're heart and listen and feel on what he has to say.

Well, I hope you will find some of your answers here at CF, welcome!

1. What is god? Is he an entity, being, creature, thing...?

God is Spirit and He's love. He's a being, but he's not a creature because he wasn't created. He has always existed.

2. Is he the only of his kind or is he part of a race of god-things?

See answer above. There is no one else like God. All other gods are false and man-made in his own mind.

3. What did god do before he made us? Are we just one of his many projects?

God is self sufficient. He existed, created angels, the heavens, etc. We are more than a "project" to God. We were created in His image, not even angels are created in God's image. He created us perfect, but with a gift called free will. Man chose to become his own god and disobey the Lord. That's why we live in a fallen world and that's when sin entered in.

4. Why did god make us in the first place? Did he "need" us for some reason?

Again, God is self-sufficient. He doesn't need us. He chose to create man to have a relationship with him.

5. If god is all-knowing then he knows what it would take for me to believe in him. Why doesn't he provide it? Maybe he doesn't want me.

God's Word says His creation declares His glory. He has revealed Himself to man in so many ways. We just aren't looking and listening.
Thanks JR

You're welcome :)

No problem. I'll answer your questions individually.

1.) God exists in three persons: God the Father- the Creator of all things that are visible and invisible. God the Son- Jesus Christ who became man and suffered for the good of mankind. And God the Holy Spirit- The giver of life. The Father and Holy spirit are existant as spirit only, and there has only been one incarnation of God the Son; in the person of Jesus Christ,
2.) The Holy Trinity is one God. All things were created by the Father.
3.) Think of God as like a painter. The painter existed before he created his painting, but the painting didn't. I don't believe that there is any scripture on what there was before God created the Earth, so I really don't have much of an answer for you.
4.) God doesn't need us to serve him. It is our purpose, but if we dont serve our purpose, he doesn't pay for it. A Father doesn't have a Son because he "needs" one.
5.) God knows what it takes, but he also has the wisdom to know when to when to act. Maybe he sent you here so that you may find answers to your questions, and this is when you will recognize him as your Lord. Maybe not. Either way weather you recognize it or not, he has always been with you and will be with you until the moment of your death. If you wil be with him after that is entirely up to you.

I hope that helped. I wrote this in a hurry, so PM me if you need me to be more specific. God Bless. Keep searching, my friend.

God tells us much just by the language of life. That is why wisdom is a precious thing to have and is said to be much desired. The Bible says that God is a spirit, yet He also manifests Himself as plural in relation to man. God came in the flesh to man as Jesus and was the Living Word of God, and when Jesus left, He promised to send His Holy Spirit to live inside us and lead us into all truth about sin and death and how to overcome it in this life.

2) God created other beings who were called angels. One, named Lucifer or light bringer, became proud as the most beautiful of God's creations, and rebelled against God bring a third of the angels against God in a war. They were banished from heaven and fell to the earth. They continue to fight against God and influence men today, as the Bible says that we do not fight against flesh and blood, but powers in these high spiritual places that follow after satan.

Eph 6:12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.

3) We don't know, but having a good imagination doesn't hurt as long as it doesn't lean towards evil. I see in the imagination of man a constant awareness of God in nearly all the stories it tells. The battle of good and evil is as evident today as it always has been. Whatever He is doing, count me in, as it will be interesting, and He has offered mankind the power to become "sons of God". Other projects? Nothing is impossible for God, but He has given us sufficient work of our own to complete.

4)Need? I don't know, but is certain that it was His will to create and reveal Himself to man and give man a special choice in a garden with a devil in it. What has that scenerio created and given us today even in this fallen condition of sin and death? We can see the light and the dark and what should be done that is right as a race of beings, but never seem to come together to defeat the evil that is done and establish good for all men.
IMO, God created man to be His family as His sons and daughters - brothers and sisters of Jesus. He wants us to develop faith and love here on earth and has given us all things that pertain to having life in Jesus.

Mt 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

5)God says that you do know that He is deep inside but have covered that truth with the world's lies. God literally shouts at mankind in all thaings - science, in our bodies and consciousness, the heavens and the earth; we have all of creation and even odur ownselves as witness to God's power to create. We have His Word given that has certainly and influence on this world. Every word the Bible says about man and the fallen condition of mankind is true, We see it everynight on the evening news. Even the prophecies of the Bible are coming true about the end days, as we have another state od Israel, and Jerusalem is surrounded by enemies ready to destroy the house of Judah - the Jews.
How a man comes to an end of spiritual blindness is a work of God, and it comes by asking with a humbleness and contrite spirit towards Him. God resists the pride of man but gives grace to those that approach Him with proper humility and respect. He says that He cannot resist the contrite heart that is broken over the sin and death they see even in their own lives.
I used to be agnostic when I went to college, but could never say that God was impossible. I just didn't think He was really caring about His creation, but I was just being hard-headed and lazy. I was more content to run after my sins and didn't have any time for God until I really needed help. When I called out from my trouble, He answered my humble prayer. Since then, the road has not been an easy one, but one of sharing in the brokenness of Jesus which is an honor and priviledge. I've learned more about what true love is; how to give more and not just be thinking about self so much, as He tells us to die to self by going to the cross daily, denying self and losing the old dead life that is controlled by my flesh and its constant desires. It is only through receiving the new spirit from God, being born again, that we can enter into His spiritual kingdom. we become new creatures by His power. Not our in own power. He gives us a helper in the Holy Spirit so we are not alone without help to fight the good fight against our flesh. God teaches us what true love is - that it gives.

Jas 4:6 He gives us more and more strength to stand against such evil desires. As the Scriptures say, "God sets himself against the proud, but he shows favor to the humble."

John 3:5 Jesus replied, "The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from heaven.
7 So don’t be surprised at my statement that you must be born again.

1Pe 1:23 For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

I JOHN 3:16-19 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and TRUTH. This then is how we KNOW that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence whenever our hearts condemn us.

Hi there!

Of course God wants you... it isn't God's desire that any should be lost....

What would it take for you to believe in God and believe that Jesus Christ died just for you?

For me to believe in god, he would have to send a message/sign to everyone in the world simultaneously. Everyone would understand this message in their own language and everyone would agree on the meaning of the message.

Short of that, I'd be tough to convince. And even if god sent the above message, and this god turned out to be the biblical god, I'd still have a hard time following him because I disagree with many of his actions and methods as described in the bible.

The whole Jesus concept...the ONLY way god could forgive our sins was to send himself/son to be sacrificed to himself? Why did he require such brutal sacrifice, first from animals then from Jesus, to forgive sins? Now we just have to ask for forgiveness. Why the change?

The life is in the blood, and the law before Christ was eye for eye, tooth for tooth - blood for blood.
Brutal?? The sins of men are brutal. Five hundred million children have been aborted since 1972, yet the blood of Jesus can forgive any sin of selfishness or murder that men may do. He took it all upon Himself at the cross for mankind.
As for waiting for a big sign, that would be a mistake, as the devil has a big deception planned where He will reveal Himself as God and lead the world into destruction. He will establish a one world religion along with his one world government and show Himself as God returned to earth in the temple in Jerusalem. All who follow him and take his mark will be left out of God's kingdom.

Mt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

2Thess. 2:9 This evil man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.
10 He will use every kind of wicked deception to fool those who are on their way to destruction because they refuse to believe the truth that would save them.
11 So God will send great deception upon them, and they will believe all these lies.
12 Then they will be condemned for not believing the truth and for enjoying the evil they do.

Mt 24:15 "The time will come when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about: the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place"—reader, pay attention!

Lu 21:20 "And when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then you will know that the time of its destruction has arrived.

Jesus Christ is not a concept, but a person. We have the opportunity to know Him in a relationship because of His power over the dimensions. We live and breathe inside of God, having our being, and we can let God into our lives too, but He will not knowck down the door. We have to ask Him in, and when we do, He promises to stick closer than a brother - to help us live life well and learn about what pleases God. It is love that God commands us do. First tolove Him with all our mind, strength, and soul, and then our neighbor as ourselves. That isn't a call for self-esteem, though, but for us to make sure our neighbor has the basic love we give ourselves in feeding, clothing, shelter, and visitation. These are the things Jesus asks us about when He returns - Did you feed me when I was hungry, clothe me when I was naked, give me shelter when I was a stranger, visit me when I was sick. That is pretty basic love and basic commandments that are easily understood, yet as a race of beings or as individuals we do not obey very well, and seem to be more interested in self than anything. The Bible tells us to deny self, pick up our cross or burden, and follow Jesus.

Matt.22:37 Jesus replied, "‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

I JOHN 5:3 For this is the love of God, to OBEY his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.

MATT. 25:31 ¶ "But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne.
32 All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate them as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.
34 Then the King will say to those on the right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.
36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
37 "Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?
39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?’
40 And the King will tell them, ‘I assure you, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

So God has left us plenty of testimony of Himself in all that is created. They bear record of His glory. Even you and I are records of the glorious work He has done. The human body is amazing in itself, and we are surround by miracles we cannot even see, as the scripture tells us that all things are made of the unseen. No man can duplicate what He has done by God, but men can dream up all kinds of lis so they do not have to obey His simple commands and they then try to justify their fallen nature to sin by even denying He exists. God will not peform on demand for the proud, but satan will be glad to do that when God takes the restraint off of Him for those last days of decision on earth. Although the time of grace is fast coming to an end, God still waits to forgive and receive those who would call humbly upon His name and ask of Him for help and love. Today is always the day of salvation, as we have no guarantee of tomorrow.

Romans 1:18 But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves.
19 ¶ For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts.
20 From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God.
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. The result was that their minds became dark and confused.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became utter fools instead.

1. God is a being, a person, a spirit. He is the Trinity and He is part of the Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.

2.He is the only true God, although many have created others that are false.

3. God created heaven and earth and the angels and animals and plants and the universe before He made us. I don't believe we are one of his projects, we are his project.

4. We were created for His pleasure.

5. God wants you. If He didn't, He wouldn't have sent His only Son to die a bloody, painful death for you and me. He has given you what you need to believe in Him. He has given it to everyone. However, He won't force you to become His child. He gave you a free will to choose. It's up to you to make that choice. I made that choice 6 years ago and am forever thankful to God. It really isn't hard to believe that God created me, formed my soul after His own image. It's not hard to believe that He has a purpose all for me. God made me, saved me, and gave me life.

JR-

There will come a day in which Jesus will do just what you specified in your first statement. The sad thing is that when that happens, it will be too late for the unbeliever to make his decision. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mt. 25:31-46;&version=31;
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=rev. 19:11-20;&version=31;

Romans 14:11-12 (NIV)

11 It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.’ ”
12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.

I hope you will have a change of heart and find yourself on Jesus' right hand when that day comes.

You ask for the miracle, but in truth, as you yourself say, the miracle would not make you believe. Jesus said as much during his ministry. The fact is that you will believe what you want to believe regardless of the signs. It is a conscious decision that you make. You decide for yourself whether you will be on the side of God, or not. That is the decision we all make. God has given us all we need to make that decision in his Holy Word, the Bible. There is no deception in what the writers of the gospels penned, and they would have no motive to deceive anyway. They simply recorded what they witnessed and heard. You must decide to believe what is written there, or not.

You may ask the "whys" of God and in careful study of the Bible you would find some answers. But in the end, God is God, and what he declares will be done. As to Jesus' sacrifice, that was out of love. "No greater love has a man for his brother than that which drives him to give his life for him." Jesus love for us drove him to rescue us from the mortal danger we are in. Belief in him will take us out of that danger. Asking for forgiveness is part of it, but it also takes repentance (turning from our sinful ways) and a resolve to do our best to follow his teachings and live for him. It is a simple and difficult thing at the same time. It is not easy being a Christian amid all the allure the world has to offer. But if we want the rewards of God's mercy and eternal life, it is the decision we will make. In the end, it will be worth it and that's what it's all about.

It is my hope that someday you can find the courage to make that decision for yourself.

Who and What is GOD?

"There is ONE GOD, the FATHER, out of Whom ALL is..." (I Cor. 8:6).

"For there is ONE God" (I Tim. 2:5).

"You are my witnesses whether there is any god, any Power, any besides ME" (Isa. 44:8 Moffatt Translation).

"The ONE Who is operating ALL in accord with the counsel of HIS will..." (Eph. 1:11).

"Out of Him and through Him and for Him is ALL: to HIM be the glory for the eons! Amen!" (Rom. 11:36).

"...your heavenly Father IS PERFECT" (Mat. 5:48)

"God IS LOVE" (I John 4:8).

"God IS SPIRIT" (John 4:24).

"...the INVISIBLE GOD" (II Cor. 4:4).

"Now it is eonian life that they may know Thee, the ONLY TRUE GOD, and Him Whom Thou dost commission, Jesus Christ" (John 17:3).

Jesus called His Father "...the ONLY TRUE GOD" (Jn. 17:3).

"God is NOT A MAN..." (I Sam. 15:29).

Hope this helps!

Not to be rude in any manner but is this just a repost of what you have read on another board, and figured that this would be fun to drop here to get some "Blood Flowing" or are you truly seeking insight to these questions.

Ball Is in your court.

FYI this is the only Christian forum site that I visit. Why would I repost something that I read somewhere else? These are legitimate questions that I've often wondered about but have never been able to get a sufficient answer.

Do these questions really get your "blood flowing?" I would hardly consider them to be controversial. Is it a typical Christian thing to jump on the atheist and assume he's "up to no good?"

You are asking all the questions that mankind has asked throughout history, so you are definitely not alone. The Bible says that we will not fully understand God in this life. "We see through a mirror darkly." But guess what, we don't have to understand. We only have to have faith. I believe that our human minds would be over whelmed by the full knowledge of God and all of his power and glory.

Go ahead an ask. The blood did flow just for you just for you, as God understands the terrible blindness man has to Him. Otherwise we could save ourselves by our own good works. Flowing blood is no problem, as our new life is in the blood of that shed by the Lord Himself at the cross. While grace still exists and the Holy Spirit of God calls, ask and seek with all your heart, but asking just to find fault will get you what you seek just the same as asking with a truly open heart will get you a Savior and King. I, for one, pray the best for you, that you receive that blood that flowed as a new start in new life that has God's good will attached to it.

1. What is god? Is he an entity, being, creature, thing...?

God is Love. Read 1 Corinthians 13 to know what Love is
God is God, not just a spirit. He has always been always will be and thus is not constrained by time. He is all knowing, ever present and all powerful.
He is: Awesome, Holy, Righteous, the Original... everything was made by him and thus He is the source of all life, He defines what is right and anything against Him is wrong. He is my friend, my redeemer, my Father, my Brother, my God, my Lord, my Creator. By Him, all things are made new.
God has three parts to Himself. He made us in His likeness so that we could understand His three parts. He is Spirit just as we have a spirit, He is physical just as we have a physical body, and He is God the Father who is the will or the mind (not the brain) just as we have our soul. Jesus is His physical form, the Holy Spirit is the spirit of the Lord who lives within us, comforts us and teaches us all things. God the Father is the one who's will we must seek. They are all one just as we are one.
2. Is he the only of his kind or is he part of a race of god-things?
God is God and all other things within creation that are set up as gods (things we place above Him in our lives) are false and not good for us.

3. What did god do before he made us? Are we just one of his many projects?
He created the angels before us just as he made the heavens, the earth, the animals, and the waters. I do not know if He has other planes of existance that He has made but that wouldn't have anything to do with us.
4. Why did god make us in the first place? Did he "need" us for some reason?
God does not need us or anything. It was simply His will. He is the Creator. It's what He does. He did however give us a purpose. To love Him and to love others... If you know what Love is, you know that pretty much covers everything.
5. If god is all-knowing then he knows what it would take for me to believe in him. Why doesn't he provide it? Maybe he doesn't want me.
God knows exactly what It would take for you to believe, He does want you and it is different for everybody. It is all in His timing. Some go through a long process before they can give their lives up to Him and some (few) get it right away. Perhaps you coming and asking these questions is part of what is to lead to your salvation.
He said seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you, come close to Me and I will come close to you.

I seem to answer questions better, individually, so I will take a stab at this one.

Well, God knows what it does take for you to believe in Him. In fact, the Bible states that there will be a time when God's glory will be revealed and all will bow before Him. God knows what it takes for you to follow Him, yet He doesnt say "I am God, and as proof, I will *insert miracle here*". So, why doesnt God do that? Well, I have thought of this, and hopefully this will help. First, I will provide Biblical examples. If you dont understand the Bible as Truth, just skip this section, because it wont mean much to you.

1). God's miracles have already been revealed, yet people have rejected them. Ancient Israel was full of miracles. Parting of the Red Sea, the Ten Plagues, The angel of the Lord striking down Senacherib's army, and Elijah's ascention into heaven, just to name a few, but there are WAY more. Then we move into the New Testament. Jesus performs many miracles, healing sick, and eventually dying on the cross, and being raised from the dead. God has revealed His glory to us already, but a lot of people dont see it. But if you reject the Bible, then move down to the next number...

2). If God revealed everything to us, we would all see that He is the Truth. If God proved to all of us that He was the only way, then we would have to follow Him. If we were forced to follow Him while we are on Earth, is that a loving God. A parent locks a kid in a closet, and every hour, they come in. They open the door, and the kids start repeating the phrase "I love you" over and over". Your kids say they love you, but does that make you a loving father? If God revealed everything to us and proved His divinity, wouldnt we be forced into that "closet"? We will see His divinity at the end times, but by then, everyone will have already made their choice to follow God or not. Also, "For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith." Hebrews 11 describes faith as "being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see". If God revealed everything about His divinity, faith would disappear, yet the Romans passage said faith is crucial.

sorry for this long post, hopefully you find something that will help you in some way. Thanks for posting questions like this that make us all think long and hard about tough ideas. PM me if you have more questions, if you like.

Well, I too have dealt with questions similar to that. The only thing I have an issue with your question is this. You used the word "before", and I think that is a valid question from the way we look at things. But, God is outside of space and time, so is there really time constraints to Him? If God is bound by time and space, then how could He create time and space? I dont know, if we are not outside of time, how can we judge what God did before time began. Kinda confusing to think about. But other than that, its kinda fun to discuss. C.S. Lewis has an idea that perhaps there is another Creation out there. The Bible doesnt tell us whethere there are or not. Is it possible, who knows. I would suggest Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. It is an awesome book. I know it takes some effort to read, but I loved it. Anywho, thanks for posting these questions!

Alrighty, lets see...

Do parents really need their kids? Can an adult survive and live happy lives without the presence of kids? There are many people who dont have kids, and are still perfectly happy. Now, what happens when an expecting parent finally holds their child in their arms? They are flooded with a joy they never thought possible. Now I think this is the same sort of thing when compared to God. Does God need people, dependent on Him for salvation? No, God doesnt need us. He is all powerful, why would He NEED a sinner? God doesnt need sinners, but He does WANT us. Parents dont NEED babies, but they do WANT them, and once they have them, they love every minute of their relationship. We are like babies and God is our parent. He doesnt need us, but He does want our affection. Hope that helps.
