UN votes to declare Trump Jerusalem decision 'null and void'
In a humiliating blow for Donald Trump on the world stage, the United Nations General Assembly has voted by 128 to nine to declare his controversial decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital “null and void”.

Just days after the US used its veto power at the UN Security Council to block a similar measure, the General Assembly resoundingly condemned the America’s unilateral action, which most observers said would hamper efforts to secure peace in the Middle East.
tulc(thinks that must sting) :sorry:

As if anyone has the right to tell another country where their capital should be. It is that country's decision alone.
...but if according to international law the whole of Jerusalem is not in Israel, then the State of Israel's declaration that it is, doesn't change international law, and the UN resolution is not surprising.

well...this is a refreshing change from the tendency to A) claim it's President Obama/Sec. Clinton's fault/are worse then this diversion tactic
or B) "FAKE NEWS!!" tactic.
Instead it's "Even we can see that the Trump administration is indeed a dumpster fire, so why bother pretending any more that it's not?"

Since Trump already cut UN funding severely, this is a good enough reason to stop the funding altogether, and ask the UN to move to Brussels.

I don't care what the UN says. The prophecies will be fulfilled as they have been spoken. We need to be preparing ourselves with our eyes on the prophecies.Prepare for the return of our Lord.

Possession is 9/10ths the law. Let the UN try enforcing their will on a sovereign nation.

Ironically, this "embassy move" didn't even involve building anything in Jerusalem. All that really happened was that the Ambassador moved from Tel Aviv to the consulate in Jerusalem. The US has operated a consulate in Jerusalem since 1844.

And the newly relabelled embassy is actually in West Jerusalem, which everybody agrees is part of Israel.

I doubt that moving the embassy or UN statements about moving the embassy have anything to do with bible prophecy.

Maybe not. But satan sure did fight hard sacrificing the lives of many to keep the move from happening.

I've not yet found references to the United States in the Bible, so your statement is likely very accurate.

Let Latin American republics and Iran say what they think of US-sponsored coups-d'état.

The United States, however, has said it favours a two-state solution in Israel / Palestine. So how about including the Palestinians in issues which impact the status of Jerusalem? which - currently - is not all within Israel according to international law.

The did no such thing. The US can put its embassy wherever it likes -- the UN can hardly stop them.
And the vote of disapproval was entirely expected, but actually means nothing.
Why does it sting? The UN cannot make null and void a decision made by a sovereign nation. The UN is a joke.

Let the UN try to remove our embassy personnel and close the embassy. They can't. What army will they send to actually enforce the paper they wrote that nonsense on.

The UN didn't say that the embassy move was null and void, did they?

As I understand it, they said that declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel was null and void, it has nothing to do with where Israel allows the US to put our embassy.

I can't see this doing any good. The US declared Jerusalem the Capitol of Israel about 20 years ago and called for moving the embassy there. Presidents have signed orders against the move since then because trying to find peace was more important. Trump ignored that and is responsible for the violence.

Regardless, the damage has been done.
