I didn't deflect to Muslims because the discussion is about liberals and conservatives. I was also speaking from personal experience helping many of my gay friends rid themselves of that kind of discrimination in their life. And I don't support religious based discrimination against gay people.

Not exact historical truth about Lincoln freeing the slaves because he didn’t free all of the slaves.

In practice, then, the Emancipation Proclamation didn’t immediately free a single slave, as the only places it applied were places where the federal government had no control—the Southern states currently fighting against the Union.

Lincoln also didn't believe black people were equal to white people and he didn't free what slaves he included in the Emancipation out of the kindness of his heart or of genuine concern for the slaves.

"My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union." - Lincoln's Letter to Horace Greeley (emphasis added)
