G20 - Germany in the spotlight

This week the 200 members of the Berlin police force sent to Hamburg to help with G20 were sent home in disgrace after a wild sex party. Germany also joined the trend to decadence of the Western world by affirming gay marriage and adoption. So one might be forgiven for thinking that its moral authority was somewhat suspect right now.

However Germany is hosting the G20 conference in its second major city - Hamburg next week. Merkel appears willing to hold Trumps views expressed in Paris on Climate change to account. At the same time she plans to keep a tight hold on Erdogans plans for self aggrandizing rallies for his Turkish supporters living in the country.

The agenda of G20 seems as anti-Trump as it is possible to be and slogans like "planet Earth First" as opposed to "America First" are being bandied around.

Apparently there are all sorts of Leftist threats to this conference. There have been incidents of damaged cars and disruptions on railway tracks already. The Leftists have planed marches like "Welcome to Hell" that may well be violent. They seem to want to express a dissatisfaction with the fact that these big conferences of the powerful take place at all and also the view that they do nothing to actually resolve global issues like those of Climate Change, Migration and Poverty. Of course the German government will by contrast be looking for some genuine achievements as a result of the conference.

Various other Terrorists groups are probably also looking to kill people in G20 including the PKK, Daesh and various Leftist groups.

Anyway it will be an interesting event with Putin, Erdogan, Trump and May (BREXIT) on the guest lists as well as the King of Saudia Arabia.

The spirit of prophecy testifies to Jesus. I agree there is little reverence for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords among the assembled world leaders at G20. But unlike the violent Leftists and Islamists how should the true church speak here? We could denounce a host of devils amongst the leading Western nations for their acceptance of gay marriage, celebration of abortion and blindness to false religion, for their greed, pride and blasphemy. If that is the dark spirit of globalisation that will one day lead men to embrace the antiChrist then yes Christians must oppose it.

Or we could look at the common issues faced by a humanity that oppresses and exploits its fellow citizens, is ruining the planet God gave, is faced by common crises and mass movements of people escaping wars, poverty , oppression or simply searching for hope.

There is an opportunity here for the church to both denounce what is false and to affirm what needs to be done.

To say there is no good amongst these assembled kings and to say that God just wishes to destroy them all is to accept an agenda of despair and impotence, indeed the very dark spirit that you say threatens us all.

Jesus is the Light of the world and the hope for all mankind. It is He we preach not the filth, lies and despair of the Anti Christ

I will be interested to see how the Saudi King travels to Germany. On various other trips he has brought more than 500 tonnes of luggage and equipment, 5 jets, a golden escalator to disembark, a selection of his wives, 100 servants....

EDIT: The saudi king has since cancelled his visit due to tensions with Qatar. The Brasilian premier will not be coming either due to corruption charges.

CNN are making a big thing about Trump meeting Putin for the first time at G20 while Russia Today talk only of potential deals between Xi Jing ping and Putin. It will their third meeting this year.

A massive Leftist extremist weopan cache for use in G20 was discovered in Rostock and there is a big dispute about a campsite location in Hamburg between police and protestors.

Trump cannot expect as warm a welcome in Hamburg as he received in Poland for his stirring speech there. But as the president of the USA he is nonetheless welcome. The American- European alliance is crucial to world stability. Nations in Europe, China and Russia are all looking to change that.

This was an interesting summit. But there was no Islamist drama here. Pure evil had a different mask to wear this time. The drama came from extremists from the left wing who threw molotov cocktails from roof tops at police, who smashed car windows and threw molotov cocktails in those to burn normal working peoples transport. They seemed to be organised using fire extinguishers to blind police , roaming as small gangs causing havoc across the town. But Hamburg breathed a sigh of relief when they finally left.
The spirit of the town was demonstrated by citizens turning up on the streets of the schanze to clean up after the yobs had gone.

It is a sad state of affairs when the alternative to the current worlds leadership is either an atheistic leftist anarchism of the sort we saw in Hamburg or Islamist terror groups. The one destroy our stuff , the others take our lives.

The German newspapers portray the winners as Macron, Putin and Ivanka Trump and the losers here as May, Trump and Erdogan. But that has a lot to do with cultural bias and ignores deals made by Trump with May and Putin and constructive bilateral talks with China and the French. .

The heroes of this G20 were the police who managed to contain a ferocious onslaught by leftists without killing any of them. But 500 of them were wounded in that effort to protect both G20 and free speech. Their sacrificial service, personal courage and protection of the citizen are an example to us all.
