  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

I consider myself one and like the artwork, costuming, and such. I also have a fox costume. Of course i don't like the dark side of the fandom. There are also Christians who are furries in the fandom. I know of one fursuiter who wants furry to have more of a Christian focus in the future.

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

I'm all for cool costumes, and I do enjoy drawing anthropomorphic animals from time to time--but I'd never take on the label 'furry', tbh. This is, after all, the same subculture that makes charts at conventions of 'who slept with who' to prevent the spread of STDs.

    Yeah.

Of course from what i have read that furry wasn't always like that. Supposedly in the 90's one of the original organizers felt the best way to increase membership in furry was advertising it in some gay zines. I have seen the scans of the zine in question and i think it caused furry to get over run with people who didn't have anything in common with the early fandom. Hopefully one day, the fandom can return to it's original state that it was before the perverts took it over.

I know too that other conventions like anime cons and gaming conventions also have people shacking up. I know a radio show or such that used to read personal ads on Craigslist from various anime or gaming cons and was always lols when Dragoncon came in town.

I also have heard stories about people going on cruiseships just to shack up. I also have heard stories about what goes on in those tents at renaissance faires when the general public leaves. Yet we furries are the freaks? go figure.

Hmmm, I know a few furry people who post here. One Christian, the others pagan..

Personally I have never understood it, but as long as you are not hurting anyone I do not have a problem with it. I also sympathize with the frustration when others try to sexualize everything.

I'm a fan of anthropomorphic animals, though I'm not a part of the furry fandom. I was interested in the fandom itself at one point, so I am somewhat familiar with it.

There seems to be a few Christian furry groups and websites out there. The one in that video you posted is the Christian Furry Fellowship. They have a website and some social media stuff, though I'm not too familiar with them otherwise.

One thing i wonder is why my mom who took me to a furry con in Pittsburgh said one morning when she woke up that she didn't pay money to see dumb poop. I didn't think anything at the convention was dumb.

Maybe she doesn't understand the appeal? That seems to be the case for a lot of people. I'm sure there's people out there who don't understand why people like anime, or science fiction, or fantasy. Everyone has different tastes. :p

If you were to look at a furry convention from the perspective of a person who wasn't a furry and didn't get the appeal, then it'd look kinda silly wouldn't it?

It'd be the same thing for someone who didn't understand the appeal of science fiction looking at a sci-fi convention where people dressed up as aliens and geeked-out over space ships and laser guns.

I wonder if the Khajiit from the Elder Scrolls games could be considered furry.

I dunno, that seems to be a matter of semantics more than anything.

They're a race of cat people from the game.

Well yeah, I know that. I was meaning more about when and where the term "furry" is applied. Like the Khajiit could definitely be considered furry, but whether people consider them furry depends on their own views of the term.

I know in the late 90's about there was a group that tried to clean up furry fandoms image known as the burned furs. But i think the thing that cost the group their reputation was their stance on LGBT people. And the so called Manifesto of the group actually wasn't supposed to be published,it was only to be for a select few friends of the author.

Back in the days of usenet when something got posted to one usenet group,it would get posted to similar usenet groups. One of the things in the Manifesto was a part blaming gay people and saying that they were invading the fandom. personal feelings aside,i feel that they shouldn't have bashed gay people in that way. It upset the proto-90's version of the sjw.

Oh yeah, Burned Furs, I remember hearing about them, though I didn't know much about them aside from them being adamant and controversial.

Bashing people is no good, though looking into them fur-ther (ba dum tss), I can see where they were coming from. They didn't like the public misconception of what the fandom was about, so they wanted to change that for the better. Good intentions don't make up for bad actions though, that's for sure.
