It speaks to the validity of our prayers. I think most Christians do not trust prayer mainly because they do not believe God hears, or believe He is slow.
That happened even to the early church - they were praying for Peter, a servant girl told them that he was knocking at the front door, they didn't believe her and said that it was his angel, Acts of the Apostles 12:12-17.
I have a Pastor friend who says, "God is never late, but He sure does miss a lot of opportunities to be early". It's in jest of course, but I think frequently there is a lot for us to learn and grow in during that time of asking and waiting. If God answered all those prayers in the immediate way that we are wanting, we would not grow in the Lord in the way that we need to.
