The difference between slapping a sticker on something, painting a mural on it and burning it down is a matter of degrees.

Yes.

Ultimately, OPEC & Russia and others will act according to their self interest.

The fact is, short of launching a war in the Middle East, the POTUS can do very little to affect the price of gasoline. This has always been the case...but alas, it makes for easy political fodder.

most Americans would disagree that high fuel prices are good for them or the economy. If you have less money because your money is spent on high energy prices you don't have as much money to spend in the economy. You get poorer and the energy companies get rich

One of my customers is a Democrat. He's telling me that there is no unusual inflation right now; and that even if there was, inflation is good for the economy.

It's will be interesting to hear his arguments when I raise my rates.

Thats just silly. I'm a Dem (mainly because I cant stand the R's) and there's clearly inflation going on. How much is pandemic / supply chain / worker shortage based vs monetary / fiscal policy based is up for grabs. Clearly some of the former is at play and R's in power wouldnt make a whit of difference.

So I sort of found one these stickers yesterday afternoon. I stopped to get gas and noticed someone had stuck something next to one of windows that showed the prices for gas (not the total as in the OP picture) and it HAD been one of those stickers, because I could see the hand pointing and part of the words, but someone else had come along and tried to scrape it off. I didn't have opportunity to see if it was on all the pumps or if it was just the one I was using.
