I'm not super familiar with these - I don't listen to them much. Just don't really care for them.

I have some major issues with JCS and the show doesn't sit well in my gut.

For one thing, there are far too many insinuations about Jesus and Mary M's relationship. From what I remember, it really permeates much of the show.

The second thing is that it is obvious that Weber and Rice are completely clueless about the nature of God and Christ and the fact that we are justified through Christ's death. Throughout the show, Jesus is often alluded to as a man - and from what I remember, he refers to himself as a man. I think they are really calling into question his diety.

Godspell, on the other hand, I think can be done in a way that is free from heresy. There is more truth in this one than in JCS. That's not to say that it is all truth, by any means. I personally don't care for the circus-ness (hee - is that a word) of the show. And also from what I remember, the focus of the end is on his death, and there is nothing said about his resurrection, or even why his death was essential.

So, in my opinion, JCS is mostly garbage, while Godspell does an okay job though it's not my cup of tea.

Yes, although I haven't seen JCS, I know of some legitimate reasons as to why it is seriously a bad representation of the gospel.

:) I think even this can be corrected. The final song is "Long Live God" combined with "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord."
, or even why his death was essential.
I agree. This isn't sitting well with me.

That is what I am thinking, though it is kind of neat.
!Hero does a better job, but it is also a bit in the vague department as to why He had to die and other things as well...
