Can't say it's a bad thing really. It's not as though you can't still celebrate independantly, at home or at church or whatever. If you want to be secular about it go shopping and out to dinner. They can't stop you from celebrating, it just seems that they are encouraging a reduction.
I for one could stand a yeear with no piped in holiday muzak and no one in the retail field going on about the "christmas buying season". Christmas in the U.S. is totally secular in public. Don't see why it's viewed as a big loss for Christians. Do it independantly...it'll mean more.
