Gov Abbott is getting proper treatment for COVID, an infusion treatment that takes 20 minutes, is highly effective, and takes a total visit that lasts two hours. In MS and AL, this treatment is the first line of treatment, since it greatly prevents hospital stays, is available for free, and is easy to get approved.

At the same time, FOX is promoting a drug used to treat worms in horses. Many in MS have gotten sick from the drug purchased at the local feed stores. [To state the obvious, the WHO, CDC, FDA and the manufacturer have all warned that this drug is useless as a treatment for COVID, and that no one should use it for that purpose. That hasn't stopped those who listen to FOX.

People who believe what Fox News reports don't care about the truth.

'Stop it': FDA warns people not to take veterinary drugs to treat Covid-19

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is urging people to stop taking veterinary drugs to treat or prevent Covid-19 after receiving multiple reports of patients who have been hospitalized after "self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses," according to the federal agency.

"You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y'all. Stop it," the FDA tweeted from its official account on Saturday, alongside a consumer update detailing why the drug can be unsafe for humans.

Ivermectin, which is not an anti-viral drug, is generally used to treat or prevent parasites in animals.
I don't get it - leery of the vaccine but will take horse dewormer.

Sure, you do.

FOX and FOT (Friend Of Trump) say to take horse de-wormer.

The WHO, FDA, CDC and the manufacturer say the drug is harmful, and useless against COVID.

The choice is a very simple one for me and you, and for those who get their truth from FOX and Trump.

Ivermectin is not a "horse medicine". If it was a horse medicine it wouldn't be used on people.

Sweeping, wrong generalization.

That’s true- some of the Fox faithful do care about the truth, but are just spectacularly bad at discerning it.

Ivermectin is not a "horse medicine". If it was a horse medicine it wouldn't be used on people.

'Overall, the reliable evidence available does not support the use of ivermectin for treatment or prevention of COVID‐19 outside of well‐designed randomized trials.' https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD015017.pub2/full

The proposal is that the use of ivermectin is not supported as a treatment for covid.

All those in favour say 'aye' and raise your hand.
All those against say 'neigh' and stamp your foot three times.

It is a horse medicine. But, you are correct, it has been approved for use on humans for the treatment of intestinal WORMS. It is NOT approved for the treatment of COVID.

Trump and Abbott were given a treatment that is free and readily available. They post have made clear the the treatment worked.

Why would anyone take a de-wormer that isn't approved? There is only ONE reason. They watch FOX and follow their recommendations. There are lots of people that are seeking medical care which is now hard to get. We do NOT need these folks wasting the time of medical professionals.

"Moderate-certainty evidence finds that large reductions in COVID-19 deaths are possible using ivermectin. Using ivermectin early in the clinical course may reduce numbers progressing to severe disease. The apparent safety and low cost suggest that ivermectin is likely to have a significant impact on the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic globally."

No one has recommended that anyone go out and buy ivermectin and take it on their own. No one has even suggested it.

Let us agree to disagree.

Some of us will continue get our medical advice from FOX. Others do not. Even some Trump followers will choose to ignore the advice of pillow salesmen and other FOX experts. They will choose to see what treatment Trump Republicans actually take when they are infected. Many have been infected, and their treatment is relativel open to the public. Surely, we know the treatment that was taken by Trump and Abbott.

Weren’t many of these the same people who decried the Tide-pod Challenge fad a few years ago?

People are taking ivermectin believing wrongly that it is going to help them. It's no different than 2001 when everyone was worried about a biological terrorist attack. Back then it was anthrax and small pox people were worried about and Cipro was touted as a treatment for both of them. Americans were then travelling to Mexico where they could get Cipro without a prescription thinking it would make them immune from anthrax and small pox.
