• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Found this in Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul. It's awesome.

My Grief Is like a River:

My grief is like a river—
I have to let it flow
But I myself determine
Just where the banks will go.

Some days the current takes me
In waves of guilt and pain,
But there are always quiet pools
Where I can rest again.

I crash on rocks of anger—
My faith seems faith indeed,
But there are other simmers
Who know that what I need

Are loving hands to hold me
When the waters are too swift,
And someone kind to listen
When I just seem to drift.

Grief’s river is a process
Of relinquishing the past.
By swimming in hope’s channels
I’ll reach the shore at last.

Thank you so much for sharing that poem - I like the image of a river much better than the feeling of a roller-coaster...it seems a little calmer, just like the love of our Lord. Such shared wisdom from someone so young - bless your heart!:sigh:

I didn't know there was a "Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul". I'll look for it; maybe it will help. My husband went to be with the Lord 3 1/2 years ago. I saw him die. He stopped breathing. The medics were there in 5 minutes and they said he was already gone.
Thanks for sharing this poem.
