I don't believe Chalcedonianism to be de facto orthodox.

I'm pretty sure that covers all of them, though of course more could be said.

Why should we care why this particular guy isn't any of these things, though?

It's his arguments that are interesting, not why he isn't.

I like that the OP can illuminate reasons for being one place and not another
Many people don't bother to know different interpretations, theologies or faiths
I think God eventually brings us where we belong
Christianity is something like a mountain
Christ can lead a man up the North slope, the East slope, the West slope or the South
And the man will see different things, depending on the path

zoidar, I can't think of any denomination that fits the lineup you gave us. Maybe some branch of the Campbellite movement.

I don't think point #4 belongs on the list, by the way.

If you have an interest in finding the right church for yourself--in addition to asking us what it was that decided it for each of us--it might be that you'll have to find a church that allows you to hold some private opinions such as you mentioned, even if they are not standard with that denomination.

Lutherans (conservative) hold baptism to give faith to babies and Lords supper to give faith in a strengthening way to believers.

I love a lot about most churches, just some things I don't agree with. Since Cooper is a Lutheran, I felt it was only fair to say why I'm not.

Just to share something positive, I have not finished this but absolutely love the first 2 chapters.

It is "Othrodoxy" written in 1908 by Chesterton. And by Orthodoxy he means, that which was in the Apostles Creed, the Creed of this site.

Well, I just think that you've misunderstood that point and can probably dispense with it without any harm being done to the overall listing.

That works with my current church. We got a new pastor this year, and I like him. There is wide range of Christians attending, but it's a traditional church. I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes I can feel like there is a lack of fire in our sermons. :|

I believe there is good tradition and not so good tradition.

Mark 7:6-13 Christ hammers the magisterium of His day for their bad man-made-tradition -- and He does so 'sola scriptura'... demonstrating how it is done.

I believe the ideas of man have to be vetted "sola scriptura" to see if the idea is in conflict with the Word of God.

Ahhh your no fun... lol. I didn't even get to read it.. :(

You know it doesn't matter, so long as you follow Christ in the end. :)

Actually I posted four videos by a Lutheran pastor Jordan B Cooper, where he answered why he isn't any of the mentioned. I on the other hand posted five reasons I'm not Lutheran. If you are interested, his videos can be found here:

They are quite interesting.
