• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Have you had good results using fish oil or krill oil capsules in alleviating arthritis? What quantities did you find helpful? Have you come across any studies that look reputable?
I've taken lots of fish oil gel capsules in the past. Never experienced any significant benefit. I've gotten better results with fresh flax seed oil- the kind from a health food store that needs to be kept refrigerated. This helps with inflammation, and can also be applied topically. 1 -2 Tbs/day is what's recommended on the bottle. I use it for butter on my toast sometimes.

Magnesium chloride (also in the form of magnesium oil) should be taken orally and topically to reduce inflammation and remove calcium deposits in your joints. Doing this help to rid me of a carbuncle I had for years on the side of a big toe. I believe it also helped me not to get a gout attack for the past year and a half. Dr. Mark Sircus recommends 650 mg/day of magnesium.

Other arthritis remedies include taking small amounts of sodium borate (Borax) with water every day. Just google borax and arthritis, and you'll get blogs on the subject. I still do this ocassionally for maintenance. And no, you will not die or get sick. Sodium borate is a much needed mineral for the body. And yes, it does help with cleaning the laundry. But so what? :)
