I finally pushed everything else aside long enough to make the target stand I've been thinking of for a long time.
Made from 2x4s and a 2' x 2' plywood sheet (will also accomidate a 2' x 4' sheet for large targets). The 2 x 2 plywood can be mounted with its center at 4' (chest height) or 2' (for prone shooting). The plywood can also be removed to put jugs, cans, etc. on the shelves.
It's strong enough and stable enough to take shotgun blasts, and the plywood target backboard is easily replacable without tools.
The target frame is nailed together, but the supports are bolted on, so it can be taken apart to move it.
This is a photo before I put a target on it...
Tried it out today - it works well!
(sorry about the lack of photo quality)
