• Welcome to Christian Forums
  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  3. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  4. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  5. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  6. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  7. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Few will be saved? (warning: may spike anxiety)

Does anyone else get really bent out of shape regarding verses about how few will be saved? I hate to say it but I'm really not encouraged by exhortations on grace and mercy and redemption and such, because all I can think is that few will be saved. I'll be sitting in an exuberant church service but I don't enjoy it because I'm too busy thinking "Most (or all) of them probably aren't even really saved."

It's really hard to have peace and joy, even if you end up in heaven, if you know that most of (if not all of) everyone you know probably isn't even saved.

Please don't think I'm trying to be arrogant and say "I'm going to heaven but they will all burn in hell." I don't even know that I'm going to heaven. And I'm not talking about scrutinizing other people's behavior or sins either. I just look at people in general and feel sad and scared because it's written in stone that most of them will go to hell.

Sorry to get off on such a disturbing topic. Thanks for listening.

I know what you mean. I do. But my take on that is-- what did the Lord mean by "few?" I'm not so naive as to think that everyone who darkens the door of a church and calls themselves a Christian has actually been "born again" but I think even if you did use that number, that would still be relatively "few" out of the entire population of the world.

The Lord also promised that all who believe on His name would be saved. So you have to look at the entire context of the Word of God for His meaning, not just zero in on that or other isolated verses. That's how I see it anyway. Just my two cents.

I feel the same way sometimes, hon. You have a compassionate heart, and that's a great thing to have, even though it can make you sad when you look at mankind as a whole. Try to focus on what YOU can do to spread God's love, and think about all the millions that DO get to Heaven...maybe that will help you :)

I do not think this is appropriate for this subforum, however for some reason I am unable to "report" posts.

I have had the same struggle with things like this, I can read the greatest scriptures on the love of God, or hear a sermon that is encouraging and uplifting, and my mind always tries to focus on the negitive, especially people going to hell and the suffering, etc (why why why?). Part of my "issues"...But I have progressed and this does not haunt me as it used to, well most of the time anyway.... but enough about me.
When I read this, in addition to the good answers given, Rev 7:9 is a picture in heaven,
"A great multitude which no man can number........clothed with white robes" also, Abraham was promised his seed would be like the stars of heaven which no man can number.
As already said, I beleive the few are in contrast to all of humanity. "God is not willing that any perish but that to come to repentance". Those who do not will do so of there own choosing. I know that is hard, I wish no man to be eternally lost.. one day we will have the answers and the why's will be answered-and we will understand and know even as we are now known!
    God bless, Bob

God put that compassion in your heart for a reason! So that you can be a good example to others, and reach out to more believers/non-believers that would not be saved! As long as you try your best, you will be rewarded! And God gave each one of us a will to choose what's right. Your job is to preach the gospel and encourage fellow believers! Whether the person accepts Christ or takes your advice is not your matter, it's the matter of the other person! So dont be discouraged! Just keep your compassion and zeal for God burning and that's all you need to do in this life! Remember it's God who speaks and convicts, it's not by our efforts!

Yes, I do think about this~ I actually worry about it for me. I can see my failings, my short comings. I know I can't save myself, it's something Jesus did for me. But I struggle so often not to sin, it scares me that I will do something to "mess it up" or that I didn't do what I needed to do, to begin with.

I have had a slight brush with this (OCD). My OCD usually isn't often isn't faith bound.

    Let me just say something.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God who took away your sins on the cross?
Are you trying your hardest to stay on God's path? (I don't think a day goes by where you don't sin).
Are you confident in what God did by sending Christ?
Have you repented of your sin?

If you believe and practice this, you will go to heaven.

Not every Christian in Churches over the world is going to actually be reborn and not all will go to heaven. Jesus will say depart from me to many people who profess they are Christians but have not accepted Jesus. However, if they say they are a Christian, hold them to Christian values and rebuke them if they are sinning. You can usually tell the heart of someone who claims Christ by their fruits - but you can't always say categorically that "this person is a Christian" or "this person isn't a Christian".

What does the Bible mean by narrow and wide gate?
    Well...

In a global perspective over generations - more will reject God / Jesus than the amount of people who will accept Jesus as saviour. That is the crux of it.

Try and spread the word as much as possible.

    God Bless,
    Brother in Christ,
    Michael

You know when you go to a big festival or gathering or something and you see all those people? Or you look at pics of overpopulated cities in Japan or China? ALL THOSE PEOPLE!!!! It's insane...and just think of how many more people there are in the world...when God said "few"...what did he mean? in the entire population of the world, the past, the present, and the future...the will be many manymanymanymany people...multitudes. Many will be saved...your entire church may just be saved...but those who aren't in that building are less likely to be saved than those within...many more will be saved than you think...and it is not because God does not love them...it is because they have decided to turn away and be without God. It is not God's choice to send them to an afterlife without Him...it is there own choice.
