So Cris you live in Ohio too?

I was born in Texas...but grew up in Ohio. Most of my adult life was spent between Ohio and Florida.

Most of my time in Ohio was in the Youngstown area...then I moved to Cincinnati and spent about 4 years there...and then I moved to Houston and I've been there going on 8 years.

I'm here in NE Ohio to help my aunt through her recovery...looks like it may be a few months still.

there is just a whole big bunch of nothing here now...I mean...there wasn't much here when I lived here years ago...Cinci was a bit better economically speaking...but this area Kent/Ravenna...just seems to be shutting down...:o...I haven seen what the Y-town area looks like yet.

England is lovely and we're settling in. I've no idea what to do with the parsnip & swede my hubby brought home for dinner, but surely Google has a suggestion.

How are things with you? Any improvement to report?

EXACTLY!

I just peeled and chopped the suckers into medium diced bits and threw them in the post. He loved the stew. It was spicier than I intended, but served with naan bread, it actually came together OK. Tonight, it's takeaway. I'm ready for some fish and chips or curry and I've earned it.

This being able to walk to shops close by is actually pretty convenient, except for the fact that you have to go to several shops to get different things as super stores are hard to find and even then, the selection is no where close to what we're used to. I guess as long as we can get what we need and most of what we want, there's nothing to complain about....besides the ever-present rain threat and people who speak in a strange manner.

ahhhhhhh the rain........... lol
For that reason alone I couldn't live there. I left Michigan becuz
of the gray overcast (it messes with my emotions or hormones or
something) - I can't hardly take it for long.

I'd imagine there's LOTS to get used to there, but gosh, I'd have a
blast doing that! I've always wanted to go there!

I'd be interested to know if they have "issues" with Americans -
let me know how you're recieved over there.
