If I misunderstood you, I apologize. Please explain what you did mean by bringing up 'have a law degree to qualify?

I was asking people what they consider knowledge and experience qualifications for POTUS. For example, is it more important to know enough about laws to pass the bar exam or work with lawmakers every day? The answer is obvious to me, but other voters can easily disagree. A lawmaker with a law degree would be ideal.
What did you mean by bringing up 'living in the White House'?

That was hypothetical of course, but the idea is Michelle Obama was more than a wife and mother of two. She was a first-hand witness to the goings-on, able to understand exactly how the POTUS does his job, in those eight years. In fact, there were rumors she could be Hillary Clinton's vice president four years ago - the only reason being her status as the First Lady.

I agree that it is important that at least some of our lawmakers, the Congress, are lawyers.
It's also important that the DOJ has the very best lawyers as they advise the President about the law.

Yes, the most important branch to have lawyers is obviously the Department of Justice. But if she was an extremely popular casndidate, I would strongly consider Elizabeth Warren, who is a lawyer.
I don't think you have explained why you think it's important that a president be a lawyer.

I said having a law school degree would be preferred. That is just common sense. But if Elizabeth Warren has no chance, and it sure is looking that way, I will not vote for her because kicking out Donald Trump is priority #1.

Who is watching the debate tonight?

This is a head-scratcher: Republican Lester Holt will moderate it. He was heavily criticized for interrupting Donald Trump all night long during his first debate against Hillary Clinton.

As I expected, Michael Bloomberg could not defend himself when others attacked him and proved he isn't really a Democrat or knowledgable enough to do the job. Democrats do not win the nomination by saying on internaitonal television, "We can't do it without China and India." I don't care what the question was; I will not accept that for an answer.

I watched most of the debate. From what I saw if this was a time for Bloomberg to strut is stuff he failed miserably. He maybe should just stay in the business world and be content with that. I can't even see him winning the Democrat contest not to speak of him beating Trump. Elizabeth Warren seemed to have him on the ropes when it came to the non-disclosure issue which seemed to leave him totally rattled and Biden seeing Warren was scoring points with that got on board with the same thing.

To me Bloomberg's reasoning of wanting to beat Trump seemed too much of a personal thing citing what he considers to be Trump's arrogance. To me though even if a great deal of Americans don't appreciate the President's character that doesn't necessarily translate to a reason to see him not be given a second term. I saw precious little in regard to exactly why Trump isn't good for a second term when it comes to lack of achievements.

And I wonder if the idea that Bernie puts forth about Trump....the worst President ever? The worst President ever with a booming economy with the lowest unemployment numbers in 50 years? A claim that Bernie makes seems like it deserves the biggest belly laugh imaginable. The worst President ever? Shouldn't that belong to say a President that took the country into a losing war....like a President in the Vietnam era or the time of the Great Depression? How can any of this worst President ever be taken seriously even in the slightest? And how can the worst President ever have a pretty high approval rating?

OK, so you don't understand the climate change issue. Bloomberg was right. The world needs to convince India and China that reducing the use of coal plants is in their best interests. Also, Bloomberg and Klobuchar showed an understanding of fracking.

And yes, it is Bloomberg's foundation that is behind much of the closing of coal plants. And it will also be the foundations of Gates and Bezos that will be doing lots of the heavy lifting on climate change.

As I have said before, it is Bernie who doesn't have a clue. Klobuchar was right when she pointed out that national gas plants are necessary as a transition fuel, probably for several decades, while we phase out oil and gas. Bernie would phase our ALL coal, oil and national gas plants within 10 years. That would be an economic disaster, and an impossibility. Of course, bernie also opposes nuclear power and would also close down nuclear plants. We cannot rely on only wind, solar, thermal and hydro. Even if we could, we don't have the storage technology, and aren't close to developing it.
======
Bloomberg had a terrible night. He isn't ready to debate. His other good point (other than climate change) was to point out that nominating Bernie was the way to guarantee the re-election of Trump.

That was a false statement. Michael Bloomberg is in it to stop Trump but showed me nothing impressive I can sleep on I want Super Tuesday to be Surprise Tuesday for some candidates.

Trump has the lowest average approval rating of any president since records began. Just because you like him and don’t understand why he isn’t popular, doesn’t make him popular.

I totally agree. Actually trump has done a number of things I liked, especially confronting china on trade, which was very needed. I want trump gone to preserve the Constitution and ultimately our freedoms, and even to help Christianity also. I'd be delighted though if Trump showed up at my front door, and would be so pleased to invite him in and try to get him to stay for the evening. It's not that I 'hate' him -- that's only a political talking point (a false generalization, basically a falsehood when accused against anyone that says trump does something wrong). It's that he needs to be doing some other activity/job, where he is better suited == we need a better president that actually understands and values the constitution. Not to mention that doesn't use twitter to make personal attacks on random individuals and people he sees as possible threats to uncover something.

I didn't say that Bloomberg was impressive. I just said what so many have stated, that Sanders is a burden on the ticket, and would very likely lose to Trump. There is only one way to demonstrate that this is a false statement; Sanders would need to win. I don't think that the party will take that chance.

It seemed that if you took the 'centrist' candidates (pigeonholed them together) and the 'liberal' (another pigeonhole of unalike individuals), then the more center like added up to like 55% or so? and the 'liberal' to like about 45%, so far, but it's only 2 states so far. It would not be so good in my view to take a candidate from the minority view inside 1 party, even though the primaries could tend to help that happen (as already in 2016 for the republican ), but maybe democrats are more...individual, independent, unwilling to be herded. So the convention process could become so key then. The convention experience.

I'm biased, but I really do wish the far left would throw in behind Warren instead. I think she brings to the table that element of pragmatism so often missing in progressivism, not to mention the fact that she doesn't give off "Fear me, I am a communist" vibes in quite the same way.

I'm not sure Sanders can't win the general election, though. He actually strikes me as an interesting opponent for Trump, since he has a similar sort of almost rabid base and taps into the same anger underlying Trump's popularity, which might mean that he's better positioned to flip back the disenchanted Democrats who voted for Trump.

I don't know if anyone can beat Trump, but I don't really think Sanders is more of a gamble than anyone else. (As I've said before, Bloomberg is anathema to any progressive, so will run into the same problem as Sanders, except in reverse.)

Elizabeth Warren's first attack on Michael Bloomberg was his "apology" for stop and frisk arrests. She was perfect on that one, pointing out the intent is what matters and must be apologized for, not the result of the stupid policy.

The lack of transparancy was a killer for Bloomberg. Women do not sign contracts to agree to stay silent! They do not bite their tongues when sexual discrimination happens on the job. His female employees did
complain about their supervisors making sexual advances. He wants to hide transparancy and lie about it in more ways than his lazy "TurboTax" returns.

You’re welcome to your opinion of course, everyone has one. At the moment though there’s simply no factual basic for making that statement. Polls show him beating Trump and popular across the country. That doesn’t automatically translate into a win of course, but it also doesn’t automatically translate into a loss, no matter what the Democratic establishment keep trying to convince everyone.

There's not much in your post (not just this part I'm quoting) that strikes me as necessarily wrong. And I
have already posted somewhere that Warren seemed to me to have been the main beneficiary of the debate last night. She may also be able to espouse Socialism while escaping the label, oddly enough. That's out of the question with Sanders

STILL, she seems hyperactive and physically shaky, not just forceful. And elderly, in the same way that Biden does.

On the other hand, Sanders, who is old and looks old in other ways, still seems to be better organized, lucid, and more consistent (even when blowing smoke).

President Trump was the overall winner, due to the constant squabbling. Otherwise, I suppose that Bernie and Warren did the best.

It was a debate, not a long series of nasty arguments. Donald Trump won nothing.
