Luke 8 verses 26 to 39. Healing of a demon possessed man.
Interesting reaction of the people. Seeing a miracle like this, of evil dealt with. Real demonstration of the power of God. They reacted so negatively to something so good.
Is it not still the way? Knowledge of the Gospels and the Word of God is clearly and freely available now. No excuse not to take it on board. Yet so many people reject Christ, unable even to bear to hear His name mentioned. Despite believers like us telling of His wonderful healing power to change lives.
Instead people put their faith in any number of 'self help' and 'how to' books and personalities. Especially at this, the beginning of a new year. Rejecting the Bible which is the best guide to life. Blind and deaf to the truth that is clear and real.

32 Now there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they entreated him that he would give them leave to enter into them. And he gave them leave.

33 And the demons came out from the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd rushed down the steep into the lake, and were drowned.

I doubt many have seen this today. It takes more faith to believe when you do not actually see it yourself.

Also why did the swine have to drown ? Why not just cast the demons out ? Bet some swine herder was upset later.

The unrepentant, fear their own truth. They fear losing their life long lie about self, about being a somebody in this world. Their ego keeps them denying and ignoring the truth. As Jesus said,
Mark 10:25 "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

The eye of the needle is a small doorway through the main gates of a citadel. A camel can only fit through it by crawling on its knees. The humble will enter the Kingdom of God.

Of the truly humble people I have met, they all have experienced ego deflation at depth before surrendering self for what they know is true (God). Hence, the blessing of a thorough repentance of all our sins.

People who think they are rich in being a somebody, having a reputation to uphold, let alone all their lies about self, have no immediate desire to expose themselves as a nobody. However, those who already know they are a nobody are the last, about to become the first.
