Good thing the Ecumenical Patriarch is the touchstone of Orthodoxy. What a poor landlord he would make otherwise.

It is not just the EP. None of the other 19 ruling monasteries support Esphigmenou. Some people like the propaganda around Esphigmenou, but it is actually a house divided against itself. Multiple Old Calendarist groups dwell withing the walls that are not in communion with each other. It is a bastion of schismatic overzealous extremism that is prone to terrorism, not an outpost of "true Confessors," as some would prefer to mythologize.
