"In the midst of a full-blown crisis for parents who need formula to feed their children, more than 90% of House Republicans decided on Wednesday that the shortage that has led to panic and despair is not actually that big a deal, with 192 (out of 208) GOP lawmakers voting against an emergency spending bill meant to address the terrifying situation. Sorry, babies! Them’s the breaks."
192 Republicans Decide They’d Like Formula-Seeking Parents to Keep Suffering

Representative Kat Cammac has led the fight urging the Biden administration to act on the baby formula. Representative Cammac is the one who revealed there are warehouses of baby formula at the southern border. Unfortunately the Democrat bill gives 28 million dollars for salaries and expenses, while instead it should specify the money be used only for the purchase of baby formula. Democrats have used taxpayer money for Peloton memberships and liquor stores for members of Congress, there is no reason why money cannot be allocated strictly for the purchase of baby formula. Mexico and Canada have plenty, if they divert the aircraft they are using to transport illegals and instead pick up the baby formula it should be able to be done within days. This should have all been done long ago, the delay by the FDA and the rest of the Biden administration is horrific. Now the typical blame game on others. We need people who will take responsibility for problems and work together with others to get them fixed, not those who specialize in propaganda.

No she didn't. So how about we crank comments like this back a little. Cammac posted a picture of a few cans of the stuff, a photo which has yet to be confirmed as being what she said it was. Then it was palletts of formula. Now it's warehouses full of the stuff.

And I posted information to show that what might be needed at the border (not just at one centre) would be a few cans each week. And the nearest supermarket to the centre that Cammac mentioned had well over twenty different types of formula on the shelves.

If you want to complain about the shortages and what's being done - or not being done, then fine. But it would help if you did that without exagerating claims (and they are claims not facts) any further than they have already been.

GOP Rep. Cammack: 'Multiple Stocked Warehouses' of Baby Formula at Border Shows 'How Out of Touch this Administration Is'
My point is that once again the blame is going on those who dared to bring the attention of the problem to the nation instead of those responsible for failing to act.

Zero evidence. We've had a one picture. If she has more (from five days ago) then she would be obliged to present it. In context. She hasn't. The woman is trying to make political mileage out of a legal requirement to supply children that have been detained with food and liquid. Notwithstanding that there has been an order that no women with infants are to be be held in any case.

That there is a shortage and that someone has dropped the ball in allowing it to happen is a legitimate topic for conversation. How about you concentrate on that? And please be sure to let me know when this woman decides to present her evidence.

You should be outraged at the charge that Republicans want to see the parents suffer. It is this kind of tripe from the American media that is the rule rather than the exception. Don't keep falling for it.

It is not a fake charge from where I stand. There was a bill to spend money to help the situation, and they voted against it.

All your twisting doesn't change that fact.

Well, I don't look for well-thought political takes from Vanity Fair: "a monthly magazine of popular culture, fashion, and current affairs".

I go to Teen Vogue for that.

In my opinion that's exactly why politics in this country is in such a mess. People are not interested in what's actually in a bill, it's their party's bill. The leaders only need to give a name or nickname to a bill, such as "Don't say gay" or whatever. Then they unjustly vilify opponents.

Do they care more about the unborn than the born? Maybe this trend will bring about the return of the wet nurse profession. More women should breastfeed anyway but I know not all are capable of doing it so they do need resources. Once off the teet, mom gave us milk mixed with either evaporated or condensed milk I don't remember and we all grew up strong and healthy.

Hip hip hooray for fiscal conservatism.

Surely people can see that helping parents in this way to feed babies would literally result in a nanny state.

A) The bill will help feed babies.
B) They didn't offer another bill to do that differently.
C) That warehouse of formula does not have enough to make up for the lack of formula across the nation.

It is very simple, even if the warehouse was full of formula, it is not enough to ease the shortage across the country. We needed that money to get formual from other sorces untill the local factories get back up to speed.

Sorry, this one you are twisting to make political hay.

False. Nancy just put the bill out there yesterday without asking Republicans for input. Republicans want to SOLVE the problem, that means getting the baby formula to the babies instead of passing a bill allocating money for salaries and expenses. People are really tired of this type of propaganda from the left, pretending something is solved (like the border is supposedly secure) when just the opposite is true.

A separate bill to extend the ability to use WIC benefits for formula passed with only 9 Nays in the House.

The Senate passed it by unanimous consent.

The bill in the OP faces a more uncertain future in the Senate.

Senate GOP Whip John Thune of South Dakota acknowledged earlier on Thursday that key senators in his party have not "looked that closely" at the $28 million bill yet. But he and other Republicans have said already they don't think more funding is needed and that the Biden administration has the tools it needs to resolve the problem.
