Isaiah 42:21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.
I see, that’s interesting. Most versions render the word “glorious” rather than “honourable” but in any case that makes sense. The law, itself, is worthless for ultimately accomplishing Gods honourable and glorious end of transforming us into His own image; until God steps directly into our lives we have no righteousness of our own. Love is the glory of the law, and the glory of God.

The law is worthless for ultimately accomplishing Gods honourable and glorious end in us of transforming us into His own image, until God steps in. We have no righteousness of our own apart from relationship with Him. Love is the glory of the law, and the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.

The law is gone, faith is here, faith is in seeing the love of Christ for us, His righteousness, to come from Heaven to suffer for our sake, and then feeling that same love and faith we follow the same path and steps right up into the Heavenly places.

Sitting low, is opposite to the law, the law taught killing, taught ruthlessness, but kindness and harmlessness is what to believe in now and to follow and to live by.

I also appreciate something Augustine said,
“God wrote on tablets of stone that which man failed to read in his heart.”

Love of God and neighbor causes us to refrain from killing, adultery, ruthlessness et al, and do good instead, the right way, for the right reason. Then we're obeying by the Spirit, rather than the letter.
