Those are good questions, why dont you ask the experts who told him that there was nothing to be concerned about and the masks were not need by the general public, and that it was a bad idea to have a travel ban, would you like me to go on?

Ummmm well it's been months since masks were recomended why did it take till just weeks ago for him to actually use them and not act like he should avoid them? Maybe stop trying to force schools and the border open, require masks country wide among other things.

The president operates in a very controlled environment so his exposure is limited, he is checked daily for infection so those around him have limited exposure from him at least. Telling the states what to do as far as issuing a national policy of masks would be counter productive. Regarding the opening of schools we are operating on a delicate balance here between killing people from a bad economy and killing people by not limiting exposure, to complicate that children have a different susceptibility to the virus than adults. Many people would like to return to work but childcare is a problem for them. So schools is a difficult call and the best thing he can do is encourage governors to open schools and save the economy, unfortunately this is complicated because of political issues. The job is just not as easy as it looks.

it's not complicated, people are dying, he should do his job, the fact he never pushed for a full shutdown, has activly been countermining any attempts to slow the spread is killing the economy far more then any shutdown would have.

Looking at other factor such as population density, the number of people entering and leaving the country, social norms, and various other factors would change those results. It is very difficult to make a direct comparison between the U.S. and other countries.
