Acts 1:10 "And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold two men stood by them in white apparel;"

Acts 1:11 "Which also said, "Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, Which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven."

I always took it that they were kind of in amazement in the moment. Not that they were expecting him to return at any time. The angels tell them he will return the very same way he left. They were staring as he went up.

I agree we should not be watching the skies for Christ to return at any time. But we are given the signs and seasons to watch for and told not to be deceived about the subject of his return by both Christ and Paul.

Christ tellls us numerous times to be on watch/watchmen, these verses among others-

Matthew 24:42 "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come

Matthew 24:43 "But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up."

But when we do see the signs Christ laid out come to pass(Paul being a 2nd witness in 2nd Thes) than we can for sure look up because it is near.

Is the return of Jesus really about the return of Jesus, or is it about all the things that are going to happen shortly before his return?

Why all the harping in the Bible about return of the Jesus? It's totally unnecessary. A couple of lines and done.

We know Jesus doesn't come quickly, otherwise he'd be here already. Hurry up and wait? What does "come quickly" even mean?

Will the return of Jesus be a surprise? Not really. We'll know 7 years out that he is coming. What about Armageddon?

What about the "day of the lord?" Google it. You'll see there are a whole bunch of those days. It is most definitely not about the return of the lord.

What if the return of Jesus is really about nuclear wars (and other bad things) that precede his return? They come suddenly and quickly in the night while we sleep. They will catch everyone off-guard.

How does the Bible help us here?

Rule: A small nuclear attack means retaliation is coming.
Example: Israel nukes Damascus (Is 17). Retaliation falls on the US.

How nice of the Bible to give us a warning sign. Will you listen to it?

Any other instances where angels admonish humans?

Yes. Joshua was admonished by an angel. He was called "commander of the Lord's army," and he told Joshua how to do battle in Jericho.

It will be for some. Because some will have thought Jesus is already here when the fake Christ is playing savior. Paul says people will be thinking peace and safety and then bam, the real Christ returns. That's also why Christ says he comes an at hour that most do not expect. And he warns us not to be harvested out of season. We want to wait on the true Christ at the 7th trump, not fall for the fake at the 6th.

What about the "day of the lord?" Google it. You'll see there are a whole bunch of those days. It is most definitely not about the return of the lord.
I believe all of them are about the return of the Lord. Provide the scriptures where it's not about his return? The Lord returns and brings judgement to the earth.

Again, how is that possible when Paul declares the world will be thinking peace and safety just before his return? And you have to ask yourself why would they be thinking peace and safety? We know the state of the world we live in. The only way people will be thinking peace and safety is that most of the world will be buying into the fake Christ and the fake sense of peace he will bring.

Many have been thinking peace and safety while the world tries to eradicate a somewhat benign virus. It never reached the standard set by the Spanish flu 100 years ago. It was bad, and the world came together as one.

Now what? More wars and rumors of wars back on the table.
