It's clearly written to believers, not debatable lol
There is hardly a church group that does not include those who will ultimately fall away. Those are not the elect. Paul is not avoiding that fact in saying what he does. In fact, in his letters to believers (including the supposed believers), he mentions what is impossible for the elect several times, so that they will avoid being 'supposed believers'. (As almost a side issue: Thus, God using the will of the believer to bring about what is a sure outcome.)

Paul was writing to the saints.

He is not saying that he —a Christian— can be carnal.

Well, yes he is. He literally said, "I am carnal." And not only was he a Christian but one of the greatest people in the Bible.

Further, you must take into account the rest of Scripture. Sin is disobedience, not love for Christ. Being born again necessarily causes sorrow and repentance from sin. Not walking in the flesh.

If we are required to walk in the Spirit all the time, then we are all doomed. None of us do that all the time. The Bible says: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Salvation is based on God's grace alone, not on you earning your ticket to heaven.

"Well, yes he is. He literally said, "I am carnal." And not only was he a Christian but one of the greatest people in the Bible."

You prove you oppose the bible, by trying to state that, because Paul said he is carnal, that, that is exactly what he meant.

Proof of that is, answer exactly how Paul also was the chief of sinners, and how is that an example for the world to follow a sinner and the chief of it unless changed from it to be a Saint/Holy person NOW? Do you know what the word hypocrisy and foolishness is ?

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.

"The Bible says: If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

One of sins, is lying, so being with sin, is man lying, and cant stop lying, and cannot speak truly about God.

That's because God is the Spirit of truth, and that Spirit has to be in us, instructing us, and instructing others through His Spirit of truth.

So, this message goes to the ones who consider they can fellowship with God, and walk in darkness, at the same time, darkness is the unrighteousness they are still in and still do, by being without the light of Christ in them ( which is no part dark).

The liar walks in darkness, the liar has not confessed and ceased from sin, the liar is not yet forgiven of their sins, because how are they cleansed f4rom all unrighteousness by still doing unrighteousness?

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Luke 11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

1 John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

If you want true evidence of ones salvation just look for "when" sins are forgiven.

One cannot be saved until their sins are forgiven according to (Isa. 59:1,2).

So when are sins forgiven?

Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

When was Paul's sins forgiven?

Ac 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

The above scriptures agree with (Mark 16:16) an (1Peter 3:20,21).

Nova: "The above scriptures agree with (Mark 16:16) an (1Peter 3:20,21)."

The longsuffering of God saves us, as Noah who was the preacher of righteousness found grace in the eyes of the Lord, and Noah comforts us, from the curse of the earth. Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations and walked with God.

So the world was washed away by the flood, now baptism saves us, which is he answer of the good conscience ( which the old world was condemned for not having, but had a wicked conscience so were all drowned/condemned) and now we believe Jesus Christ overcomes that curse and overcomes that death and overcomes the evil conscience to give us through His Spirit and His rising, the Holy Ghost.

The flood and Sodom serve as an ensample to those that after should do likewise to live ungodly.

The Lord delivers us out of the same evil temptations, and longsuffering/ reserves the ones who believe in injustice, to the day of judgement ( very soon ) to be punished ( with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the presence of His glory) they walk after the flesh in uncleanness, they are presumptuous, self willed and speak evil of the Lord's dignities too..

Receiving the reward of unrighteousness, spots and blemishes they have, in their own deceivings, and cannot cease from sin, beguiling and unstable, they are yet CURSED, their heart exercised with covetous practices, forsaking the right way to follow the way of their love of unrighteousness ( lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God) and lovers of their own selves and the wages of sin are death)..

Genesis 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord hath cursed.

Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

1 Peter 1:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.

2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

These are written concerning those who would seduce us.

The anointing of the Holy Ghost teaches us all things, and we need no man to teach us, as it is truth, and no lie ( the Spirit of truth) and if taught by Him ( to love) we abide in Him ( in Gods love)

To avoid shame at the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, we do abide in that love ( that works no ill to your neighbour and has none occasion of stumbling in us) and if we do believe He is righteous, we know that ever one that does righteousness is born of Him.

We let no man deceive us, as he that does righteousness, is righteous even as He ( Christ) is righteous.

The ones who commit sin, ( practicing/committing, it is the same) is of the devil, as all works of the devil were destroyed ( from the ones born of God)

They cannot sin as the seed( of Christ) remains in them when born of God to be the same righteousness as His righteousness)

Whoever does not love their brother, hates their brother and is a murderer, and we know no murderer has eternal life abiding in them, when they do not do righteousness, as all the unrighteousness they do is sin..

1 John 2:26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28 And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1 John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Romans 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

All men are saved by grace. (but not by grace alone)

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. (Gen. 6:8).

How?

Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. (Gen. 6:22)

***

In the NT the Ephesians were saved by grace. (but not by grace alone) (Eph.2:1-8)

We must go to (Acts 19:1-5) to learn "how" the Ephesians were saved.

They were baptized twice in water according to the scriptures.

"Why" were they baptized in water?

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. (Mark 1:4)

Ac 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins

(Acts 2:38,41,47 ; 8:5,12,13,26-40 : 16:30-34 ; 22:16) (Mark 16:16) (1Peter 3:20,21)

Evidence of salvation, is to be quickened together with Christ, to sit in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, and in Acts, the message to all the world is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved, they spoke with tongues.

Baptism saves us, not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, ( this is not enough unfortunately) but the answer of a good conscience by the rising of Christ from the dead...

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Here is the good conscience part now. If anyone was enlightened and made parttaker of the Holy Ghost, and fall away ( have an evil conscience in them not a good one) they are crucifying Christ to themselves afresh, making Him an open shame...

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

peter did say about baptism saving us, now see the continuation of the ( evil conscience) matter, they only speak great swelling words, promising you life through the lust of the flesh, by promising being saved in liberty, but they are servants of corruption ( secretly wolves) and after you escape the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ and get entangled in again ( as many Ephesians did and many everybody) it is worse for you, and better you had never known the way of righteousness, than to tern from the holy commndment delivered unto them, this is returning to your vomit..

2 Peter 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
