Even led to death, Jesus brought enemies to friendship

One of the most remarkable things of Christ's Passion that we don't talk about:

Luke 23:12: Herod and Pilate became friends that very day, even though they had been enemies formerly.

'Tis an odd extra step in the Passion narrative, to bring Jesus to Herod, and then right back. Why would God influence things to make this extra step happen? I can't say for sure, of course, but Christ's stronger-than-death love & mercy reached out far enough to make these 2 leaders become friends. And who can say what impact this had for the politics of the region? Less bickering, I'm sure!

Just something I've been thinking about, and I just came across it while reading about St. Manaen, so I felt I should share it.

May God bless us all & foster more friendships between enemies!

The verse before the one you posted is this one

Luke 23:11 And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Was their friendship for or against Christ there?

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

Neither one of them wanted to be responsible for Jesus death be
Neither one wanted to kill him, but not because they were good or cared what was right, but because the people loved him and they didn't want to deal with a revolt.
What's the saying? The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

The O.P. did not state anything to warrant your replies.
What he's saying is that Jesus can work for the good, as Romans 8 says...and can cause positive effects in all circumstances.

And that we should maybe not debate about every little thing so much....

    Which we just did.

I just don't think their friendship was necessarily a good thing

Maybe, maybe not. No way to really know the intricacies of two persons interacting with each other.
I know that it's better to have friends than enemies.

I do agree with all the statements you made in your original post: About how neither one wanted the responsibility for Jesus' death.

I read a good book about this:
    Who Moved The Stone
    Frank Morison (?)
It was about the resurrection and how history tends to prove its verocity.

Yes, but they did ultimately kill him so I don't think they cared about what was right. And because of this, I suspect they would turn on each other in a heart beat if it suited their purposes.
Some "friendships" aren't really friendship at all, they are just a means to an end.
    The book sounds good.

    Jesus was supposed to die.
But, yes, I think you're right.
Men like that didn't really have friends.

    Read the book if possible.
