I have just started reading his book, 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire' A conversation on the Ways of God, formed by the Words of God.

I thought he was a member of the PC-USA?
...yes I am sure you are correct, but the article says he was initially in a Pentecostal Church... it is an experience anyway, so you take it with you into any Church.

"Peterson, raised in the Pentecostal church and ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA), taught at Regent College and held degrees from Seattle Pacific, New York Theological Seminary, and Johns Hopkins University."

'As Kingfishers Catch Fire' A conversation on the Ways of God, formed by the Words of God.
Such a good book! I love to read for the pleasure of sharing the Lord and delving deeper into the Word of God with Eugene,
quote from the book

"If you devise a plan of action that doesn't take into account God's activity, you are going to do the wrong thing"

so true!
The whole book, divided into 7 parts, leads us into the reality of God and his dealings with us.
I highly recommend reading this book. *****

I ordered another book...'The Message' Devotional Bible,
wow! it is so beautifully bound in brown leather with a gold cross on the front.
It has introductions at the start of each book,
Contemplative readings,
Insights,
Questions
Neighbouring reflections, ...to do with the incarnation...

a wonderful journey, a pilgrimage,
can't wait to start reading... :)

... the first contemplation is on the rhythm of creation, Genesis, with this amazing question,

'If the moments of your day-to-day life were recorded as musical notes, what kind of music would they make?
Would they sound dissonant, cacophonous, and stressful? Would the music be breezy and digestible but ultimately forgettable? Or would it be beautiful-rhythmically and harmonically resonant?'

Challenging questions!

I have a helpful book by Eugene Peterson called 'The Message',The Old Testament WISDOM BOOKS in contemporary language'. The Old Testament 'Wisdom' Books are invaluable and this paraphrase is refreshing and revealing
