I read thru Enoch once about 3 yrs ago and haven't looked at it since but someone on another board brought it up in a discussion.

I was rather interested in the 8 weeks mentioned in it though, which I saved in a folder, and wonder if anyone else has looked at this, or even if this is Scripture and should be included in the Canon?

Anyway I thought it might be fun to post the 8 weeks here, and perhaps find the OC Scriptures to match each event.
    Anyone game for this? Peace

Gene 5:18 Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Enoch. 22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.

Enoch 93 1 I was born the seventh in the first week, While judgement and righteousness still endured.

4 And after me there shall arise in the second week great wickedness, And deceit shall have sprung up; And in it there shall be the first end. And in it a man shall be saved; And after it is ended unrighteousness shall grow up, And a law shall be made for the sinners.

5 And after that in the third week at its close A man shall be elected as the plant of righteous judgement, And his posterity shall become the plant of righteousness for evermore.

6 And after that in the fourth week, at its close, Visions of the holy and righteous shall be seen, And a law for all generations and an enclosure shall be made for them.

7 And after that in the fifth week, at its close, The house of glory and dominion shall be built for ever.

8 And after that in the sixth week all who live in it shall be blinded, And the hearts of all of them shall godlessly forsake wisdom. And in it a man shall ascend; And at its close the house of dominion shall be burnt with fire, And the whole race of the chosen root shall be dispersed.

And after that in the seventh week shall an apostate generation arise, And many shall be its deeds, And all its deeds shall be apostate. 10 And at its close shall be elected The elect righteous of the eternal, plant of righteousness, To receive sevenfold instruction concerning all His creation.

12 And after that there shall be another, the eighth week, that of righteousness, And a sword shall be given to it that a righteous judgement may be executed on the oppressors, And sinners shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous. 13 And at its close they shall acquire houses through their righteousness, And a house shall be built for the Great King in glory for evermore, 14d And all mankind shall look to the path of uprightness.

Hmm. Before I continue, which denominations of Christianity hold the book of Enoch as Divine Scriptures? Just curious. Thanks.

I believe only the Ethiopian Tawahedo Orthodox Church does. The legit Ethiopian Orthodox Church that is a part of the Oriental Orthodox Church.

I say "legit" because some Protestant went to Ethiopia and called his "church" the same name but replaced "Tawahedo" with something else.

    Hi,
Ethiopian Coptic Church always kept it in their canon, and many of us today believe it is inspired Scripture, esp Ronald K Brown, a Baptist preacher and dean of a Bible College in Texas, who compiled and edited the version of Enoch 1 which I use. Barnabas also did, who was the traveling companion to Paul and one of the 70 disciples. Others of the early Church also called Enoch Scripture, and quoted it. It is also quoted much -very much- in the NT, by Jesus and by all the authors of the NT -esp John.
Someoone on internet once wrote a good paper on the 10 weeks and I saw what they saw when they laid it out for me. but I'll have to see if I can find it.

The 8 weeks are part of the 10 weeks of this creation which seem to be a measure composed of 700 years each, making 7000 years for this creation before the regeneration of it.
I have not "figured out" all the end weeks, in their parabolic meanings.

Count the weeks by centuries and see what they correspond to, and see if the 700 years each, matches.

The Ethiopian Coptic Church is a real Church which has existed in Ethiopia for almost two thousand years. It is not the thing you found.
From the Ethiopian Coptic church two copies of Enoch 1 were got and brought back to England in the late 1700's and translated into English in the early 1800's.
All but the parable dream visions of Enoch 1 have been identified in the Dead Sea Scrolls' collections, and probably they will yet discover the rest of the assembly of books which Enoch wrote, which are included in the Ethiopian Enoch 1.

Hi. I don't believe in a millinial reign after the last plague is poured out on OC "Judah/Israel".
You appear to adding a 9th and 10th week which isn't in there it seems. Will look at the text again. Thanks for your reply and where can I find the book of Enoch that you use?

-I added the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word, to the Church's reign on earth. in the post above.
There are ten weeks in the dream vision of Enoch, and the computation of them as 700 years each, in this parable, is calculated by the times of the events which we can recognize.
I don't have time to work on it at the moment, but obviously, our own calendars are not exactly as Enoch's dream visions on the dates, but that is where work comes in for checking the record and comparing it with other records -Jubilees and Jasher, for instance, on the dates and events of happenings.
Jesus ascends and the temple is burnt at the "close" of the 4,200 years. So the temple is burnt in 70 AD ( I never remember without lookiing it up, if it was 69 or 70 AD), and that is at the "close" of the 4200, but actually in the year 4,064 -or close to that, and so we have 136 to the exact end of the 4200, but saying that "at it's close", does leave room for that exact fulfillment. When the Book of Jasher time reckining is added up, from the beginning, there is an additional 70-75 years added, for Ussher made an assumption of Abram's birth date, which is not in Genesis, but it is in Jasher. That means Jesus was born 70-75 years later in time than Ussher's chronology and that the temple was burnt also 70-75 years later in time reckoning from the beginning, which is still "at the close" of the 4200/sixth week of years comprising 700 years each, but with a few years to go. There may be more calendar work to do, and using Jubilees is the only way to count it exactly, I think???

Hey when I was reading this passage it seems quite poetic , so I just changed the form to see what it looked like and lo and behold this is my discovery.

    Enoch 93:1-14
I was born the seventh in the first week,
While judgement and righteousness still endured.

And after me there shall arise in the second week great wickedness,
    And deceit shall have sprung up;
And in it there shall be the first end.
    And in it a man shall be saved;
And after it is ended unrighteousness shall grow up,
And a law shall be made for the sinners.

And after that In the third week
At its close a man shall be elected as the plant of righteous judgement,
And his posterity shall become the plant of righteousness for evermore.

And after that in the fourth week, At its close,
Visions of the holy and righteous shall be seen,
And a law for all generations
And an enclosure shall be made for them.

And after that in the fifth week, at its close,
The house of glory and dominion shall be built for ever.

And after that in the sixth week
All who live in it shall be blinded
And the hearts of all of them shall godlessly forsake wisdom.
    And in it a man shall ascend;
And at its close the house of dominion shall be burnt with fire,
And the whole race of the chosen root shall be dispersed.

And after that in the seventh week shall an apostate generation arise,
And many shall be its deeds,
And all its deeds shall be apostate.
And at its close shall be elected
The elect righteous of the eternal, plant of righteousness,
To receive sevenfold instruction concerning all His creation.

And after that there shall be another, the eighth week,
    That of righteousness,
And a sword shall be given to it that a righteous judgement may be executed on the oppressors,
And sinners shall be delivered into the hands of the righteous.
And at its close they shall acquire houses through their righteousness,
And a house shall be built for the Great King in glory for evermore,
And all mankind shall look to the path of uprightness.

So This is actually a stunning piece of poetry that shows a narrative, so I looked in psalms to see if their were any parallels. I found psalm 105 and it shows many similarities ... assuming yeshuasavedmeis correct it aligns with the same stories about Abraham , Moses ect. The similarities are interesting. Also consider stephans speech in acts 6 recalling similar events. Thier are probably more psalms that follow the same pattern/ chain of events.

My best edited version is by Ronald K Brown, available at Amazon and probably at others if you search. It is less confusing because repeated information in the early 1800's translation does cause one to get a bit confused, cause they put the translations of the various Enoch's from different languages side by side, and I want to read through without that interruption, and he uses the Ethiopian and not the others included; but when posting I copy from an online version at http://www.ccel.org/c/charles/otpseudepig/enoch.htm. cause my Enoch edited version is not available online to paste from and I haven't a way to scan and paste.

"My" Enoch is the ocopy I "own", which was edited by Ronald K Brown, as I stated. -I also own the Charles' translation, but prefer to read only in Brown's edited version.

Enoch 1 is actually several books in one, with a portion of one written by Noah. The original Enoch 1 in all languages have no numbered verses, but the Charles' English version of the early 1800's adds a numbering system for reference purposes (as the OT and NT also is numbered, now, but not originally). Browns edited version renumbers verses from Charles' translation and updates archaic spelling. Charles' interpolations are incoporated (for smoother reading). Charles' is hard to read. Brown's is easier. Brown's still reads a bit like a KJV version. I think the book needs more revision to today's English -but that will probably come in due time.

Charles' translation is made using the Ethiopic, Hebrew, and Greek manuscripts, but Brown used only Charles' Ethiopic translation of Enoch, to edit, as stated above.
