Sure, friend. Essentially, evil will increase, sin will increase, error and persecution especially of Christians will increase, wars will increase, famines and earthquakes and disease will increase, the world will be fooled into putting their trust into an evil, false leader who will promise peace, and finally, Christ will come and defeat this man, and reign over all things, after judging the living and the dead.

I have read about Islam and know that trumpets will blow and I believe it is the same for Christianity, however one of the differences that I have learned about is that in the Quran it says the world will be still for 7.. thats it! It doesnt say 7 minutes or 7 hours or even 7 years, which is kind of frightening honestly.

I am Muslim and wanted to know what the end time events will be according to Christianity?

The best way for you to find that out would be to read the Bible for yourself, especially Matthew 24 and Revelation chapters 6 to 22.

--

But if you want an interpretation of these (and some other) Bible passages regarding our future, below is provided a short summary, then a longer summary, and then a very-long version including many details.

--

(A Short Summary)

What will happen next is the Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24, which the Church will have to go through (Revelation 13:7-10, Revelation 14:12-13, Revelation 20:4-6, Matthew 24:9-13), and which will be immediately followed by Jesus Christ's Second Coming and the Church's physical resurrection, its rapture (gathering together to Jesus), judgment by Jesus, and marriage to Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Matthew 24:29-31, Mark 13:27, Psalms 50:4-5, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6). Jesus and the Church will then reign physically on the earth for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:4-6, Revelation 5:10, Revelation 2:26-29), a time period commonly called the Millennium. After the Millennium, the Gog/Magog rebellion will occur (Revelation 20:7-10, Ezekiel chapters 38-39). Sometime after that will occur the physical resurrection and judgment of all non-Christians of all times, at the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15). Then will occur the time of the literal city of New Jerusalem on a New Earth (Revelation 21:1 to 22:5).

--

(A Longer Summary)

From Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and other Bible passages, we can derive the following summary of the main events of the future Tribulation:

It will begin with a horrible war, which, with its aftermath of famines and epidemics, will end up killing one-fourth of the world (Revelation 6:4-8).

Then a huge volcanic eruption will occur (Revelation 6:12-14).

Then an island volcano will erupt and collapse into the sea (Revelation 8:8-9).

Then a comet will strike the earth in a region containing one-third of the world's fresh surface water (Revelation 8:10-11).

Then a cavern deep underground will open up, and strange locust-like beings will swarm up from it and torment mankind with horribly painful stings for five months (Revelation 9:2-11).

Then 200 million strange horse-like beings will come upon the earth and kill one-third of mankind (Revelation 9:16-19).

Sometime before this, a third Jewish temple will have been built in Jerusalem (Revelation 11:1).

Then various things will happen during a literal 3.5-year period:

Jerusalem will be occupied by enemy forces (Revelation 11:2b, Luke 21:24), and the abomination of desolation (possibly a standing, android image of the future Antichrist) will be put in the holy place (the inner sanctum) of the third Jewish temple (Matthew 24:15, Daniel 11:31).

Two Witnesses of God will prophesy in Jerusalem, and will bring amazing, miraculous plagues upon the world (Revelation 11:3-12).

Satan (the dragon) will give power to an individual man (one aspect of Revelation's "beast"), commonly called the Antichrist, to take hegemony over the whole earth, and to be worshipped by it along with Satan, and to kill Biblical Christians (not in hiding) in every nation (Revelation 13:4-10). At least one time, the Antichrist will also sit in the third Jewish temple and proclaim himself God (2 Thessalonians 2:4, Daniel 11:36).

The Antichrist will have a False Prophet who will perform amazing miracles by which the people of the world will be deceived into receiving a mark of the Antichrist's name or some representation of the gematrial number of his name (666) on their right hand or forehead, and into worshipping a speaking, and a seemingly living, image of the Antichrist (Revelation 13:11-18, Revelation 19:20).

Right after the literal 3.5-year period:

A horrible sore will spring up on all those people who received the Antichrist's mark and worshipped his image (Revelation 16:2).

Then the sea will become like the blood of a dead man, and every living creature in the sea will die (Revelation 16:3).

Then all natural, surface fresh-water sources will be turned into blood (Revelation 16:4-6).

Then a solar flare will strike the earth (Revelation 16:8).

Then, for a time, there will be no light on the earth (Revelation 16:10).

Then the Euphrates will dry up, and the armies of the earth will gather at Armageddon (a place in northern Israel) in an attempt to fight YHWH God (Revelation 16:12-16).

Then the cities of the nations will be destroyed by fire, earthquake, and 100-pound hailstones (Revelation 16:18-21, Revelation 17:16).

Then Jesus Christ will return, physically resurrect the Church, rapture (gather together) the Church, judge the Church, and marry the Church, in the sky (1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8, Matthew 24:29-31, Mark 13:27, Psalms 50:4-5, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6), before He descends, and completely defeats the world's armies, gathered (by that time at Jerusalem) against YHWH God (Revelation 19:11-21, Zechariah 14).

--

(A Very-Long Version Including Many Details)

The Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24, which Jesus Christ will return immediately after (Matthew 24:29-31, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6), has not started yet. For it will begin with a horrible war, which, with its aftermath of famines and epidemics, will end up killing one-fourth of the world (Revelation 6:4-8). The "great sword" of this war (Revelation 6:4) could be Israel's nuclear weapons. After this war, there will be a terrible series of natural disasters historically unprecedented in their magnitude, such as a gigantic volcanic eruption (Revelation 6:12-14), possibly of the Yellowstone Caldera, and then the collapse into the ocean of another erupting volcano (Revelation 8:8-9), possibly one of the Canary Islands, the collapse of which could create a huge tsunami which could destroy the eastern seaboard of the U.S.

If such a tsunami occurs, it could also cause a string of awful, Fukushima-type, nuclear-meltdown radiation disasters in the nuclear power plants and their nuclear-waste storage facilities all along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. (These facilities, all together, are holding tens of thousands of tons of highly-radioactive nuclear waste. Nuclear power was one of the worst ideas ever, as Germany has now wisely realized.) Also, if the tsunami breaks open the germ-containment structures on Plum Island, just off the coast of Connecticut, especially-deadly viruses and bacteria could be washed inland and spread across the U.S. and Canada as they infect animals and people.

After the volcanic activity and possible tsunami, a comet will strike the earth (Revelation 8:10-11), possibly in the U.S. and Canadian Great Lakes region. As the comet falls from the sky, it will look like a great star, or like a burning lamp in the sky (Revelation 8:10). It will strike a region of the earth which contains one-third of the world's fresh surface water (Revelation 8:10b); and it will contain some poisonous element which will poison that water so that many who drink from it will die (Revelation 8:11b).

Sometime after that, weird locust-like beings will swarm up from the Bottomless Pit of the earth to torment mankind with excruciating stings for five months (Revelation 9:2-10). The world could see them as "aliens" who had been hibernating for thousands of years in a cavern deep underground. The locust-like beings will not kill anyone, but they will make those they sting want to die, the pain will be so bad (Revelation 9:5-6).

After that, an army of 200 million weird horse-like beings and their (possibly unclean spirit) riders will come upon the earth (Revelation 9:16-19). If they descend from the sky in spaceships, the world could see them as "aliens". But they and the future Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast") could (falsely) say that they are YHWH God's main army. In fact, they could be loyal to Lucifer (Satan, the dragon, Revelation 12:9). The four fallen angels now bound at the Euphrates who will lead this army (Revelation 9:14-16) could employ it to make mankind completely desperate before its takeover by Lucifer and the Antichrist mid-tribulation (Revelation 12:9 to 13:18). For when this army starts killing one-third of mankind (Revelation 9:16-19), then could also begin one of the biggest deceptions ever wrought upon humanity. For the Antichrist -- who by that time could have managed to have been elected as the President of a Mediterranean Union formed by the joining of the European Union with an Arab Union stretching from Oman to Morocco -- could announce to the world that he has sent a mental distress call to (what he could call) "My Father, our Lord Lucifer, to come with his legions of angels and rescue mankind from this murderous army of YHWH".

(And all of this will be part of only the first half of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24.)

It is at this point that Lucifer and his fallen angels could be cast down out of heaven to the earth permanently, after losing a mid-tribulation war in heaven (Revelation 12:7-9). But instead of coming down as a defeated force, they could descend for all the world to see in gigantic, magnificent golden spaceships onto the "Champ de Mars", Mars being the same as Marduk the dragon, the chief god of ancient Babylon. (The "Champ de Mars" is the large open area in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.) After landing there, Lucifer, a literal, seven-headed, red dragon (Revelation 12:3,9), could emerge in great splendor and command his angels to capture the army of 200 million weird horse-like beings and their (possibly unclean spirit) riders, who could then pretend to defect from serving YHWH to serving Lucifer. Lucifer could then confirm that he came to rescue mankind because the Antichrist, whom he could say is his only-begotten Son, called upon him (like in an Antichrist counterfeit of Matthew 26:53). Lucifer and the Antichrist could then be received wholeheartedly by the non-Christian world as the saviors of mankind. And the non-Christian world could be left thinking (mistakenly) that Lucifer and his angels were more powerful than even YHWH's main army.

Lucifer and the Antichrist, along with the Antichrist's miracle-working False Prophet, will then deceive the world into actually worshipping Lucifer and the Antichrist, and a speaking (possibly an android) image of the Antichrist (Revelation 13:4-16, Revelation 19:20; 2 Thessalonians 2:4, Daniel 11:36). And everyone will be made to receive a (possibly scarification) mark of the Antichrist either on their right hand or forehead, consisting of either the Antichrist's name or some representation of the gematrial number of his name (666) (Revelation 13:16-18). After Lucifer and the Antichrist have ruled the world for 3.5 literal years (Revelation 13:4-18), YHWH will send seven vials of wrath against the unsaved world (Revelation 16).

Near the end of these seven vials, unclean spirits like frogs will come out of the mouths of Lucifer, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet (Revelation 16:13). And these unclean spirits like frogs will go forth and perform amazing miracles to convince the world's armies to gather together at Armageddon (Har Megiddo: Mount Megiddo in northern Israel) (Revelation 16:16) to battle against YHWH Himself (Revelation 16:14, Revelation 19:19). After gathering together at Armageddon as a staging area, the world's armies will travel south and pillage Jerusalem, right before Jesus Christ (who is YHWH: John 10:30) returns from heaven and defeats them completely (Revelation 19:11 to 20:6, Zechariah 14:2-21).

When Jesus Christ returns, immediately after the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24 (Revelation 19:7-21, Matthew 24:29-31), He will descend physically from heaven on a white horse (Revelation 19:7-21; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Zechariah 14:3-4, Acts 1:11-12), with all of the holy angels (Matthew 25:31; 2 Thessalonians 1:7), for all of the world to see (Matthew 24:27,30, Revelation 1:7). Then the Church will be physically resurrected (if dead), or changed (if alive), into immortal physical bodies (1 Corinthians 15:21-23,51-53; 1 Thessalonians 4:16, Revelation 20:4-6), and caught up together/gathered together (raptured) (Matthew 24:31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1) as high as the clouds of the sky in order to hold a meeting in the air with Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

At that meeting, Jesus Christ will judge the Church (Psalms 50:3-5, cf. Mark 13:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10, Luke 12:45-48), and marry its obedient part (Revelation 19:7-8, Matthew 25:1-12), in the clouds, before it mounts white horses and comes back down from sky (the first heaven) with Jesus (Revelation 19:14), as He defeats the world's armies (Revelation 19:19,21), and the Antichrist and False Prophet (Revelation 19:20), and has Lucifer (Satan) bound in the Bottomless Pit for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3), a time period commonly called the Millennium.

At Jesus Christ's return, He will also make the marriage supper of Revelation 19:9 for the obedient part of the Church in the earthly Jerusalem (Isaiah 25:6-9; 1 Corinthians 15:54), while the birds will feast on the corpses of the world's defeated armies (Revelation 19:17-18). Then Jesus and the obedient part of the Church will rule the surviving nations with a rod of iron during the Millennium (Revelation 20:4-6, Revelation 5:10, Revelation 2:26-29, Psalms 2). After the Millennium, Lucifer will be released from the Bottomless Pit and bring about the Gog/Magog rebellion, only to be defeated for the last time (Revelation 20:7-10, Ezekiel chapters 38-39).

At least seven years after that defeat (Ezekiel 39:9b), the Great White Throne Judgment will occur, in which all people who had not been resurrected and judged at Jesus Christ's return will be resurrected and judged (Revelation 20:11-15). Then God will create a New Heaven (a new first heaven: a new sky/atmosphere for the earth), and a New Earth (a new surface for the earth) (Revelation 21:1; 2 Peter 3:10b,13). Then God the Father will descend from the third heaven in the literal city of New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2), the Father's house (John 14:2, Revelation 21:3), and He will dwell on the earth with Jesus and the Church (Revelation 21:3).

In one area outside the walls of New Jerusalem, on the New Earth, will be the lake of fire (Revelation 22:15, Revelation 21:8), in which all of non-Christian humanity will suffer forever in fire and brimstone with Lucifer (Satan) and his fallen angels (Revelation 20:10,15, Matthew 25:41,46).

Thanks :) that was very much informative :)

Different Christians will give you different answers, I believe. My answer will be each of us will die and pass on to the resurrection.

I swear! Some of you contrive better fiction than Aesop did with his fables.

You alter the written meanings of almost every word in the Bible while doggedly claiming to be "Literalists."

Though I find some of the explanations a little out there, as in maybe true and maybe not, I can't exactly refute some of them. For that reasons, I'd like to hear your run down of the end, along with where your thoughts differ from others on the subject.

I personally thought I'd post until I realized, this if far from my field of expertise. I know some of the basics but other than that, looks like I don't know jack.

I thought there was still prophesy left to be fulfilled before the tribulation.

I am Muslim and wanted to know what the end time events will be according to Christianity?

There's no official position in Christianity concerning "the end times". Some Christians believe in an elaborate series of events the precede the End, others not so much.

Christian views on the subject can be broken down as follows:

Futurism - The majority of those things mentioned in places such as the Olivet Discourse (c.f. Matthew ch. 24) and the Revelation of St. John are yet future.

Historicism - The things described in the Olivet Discourse and the Revelation have been unfolding progressively through history, from the first century, and will continue to unfold until the End, the End referring to Christ's coming, the resurrection of the dead, and the Judgment.

Preterism - The majority (or all*) of things mentioned in the Olivet Discourse and the Revelation have already come to pass.

* There are two kinds of Preterism: Orthodox or Partial Preterism says most of these things are past, but Christ's coming, the resurrection of the dead, the Judgment (etc) are still future. Hyper or Full Preterism says even these things are already past, and there is no future coming of Jesus, or resurrection. Hyper or Full Preterism is regarded as heretical in historic, mainstream Christianity; Orthodox or Partial Preterism is an orthodox position.

Idealism - This largely deals specifically with how to interpret the Revelation, the Idealist perspective is that the concepts and images discussed don't refer to any specific historical events, or rather they can describe many historical events; but that the point isn't that these things only happened in the past, or at one point in history, or in the future but instead is about larger themes of the oppressive tyranny of the world, of hope in the future coming of Jesus and His victory over sin and death, etc.

These are the four major schools of Eschatology in Christianity. And there are Christians from across diverse backgrounds who embrace one of these views, or a variation thereof.

In addition to these, Christian views can also be categorized on certain more specific subjects:

The Millennium:

The Revelation of St. John mentions Jesus reigning for a thousand years, Christian interpretation here has also been diverse.

Premillennialism - The Millennium refers to a literal, future, thousand year period in which Jesus rules over a temporal kingdom over the earth, between His coming in Judgment and the Renewal of all things. It is called PREmillennialism because Jesus returns before the Millennium.

Amillennialism - The Millennium isn't literal, but is symbolic of Christ's reign at the right hand of the Father, from His ascension until His return in Judgment, when He hands all things over to God the Father. It is called Amillennialism because there is no literal Millennium.

Postmillennialism - The Millennium refers ultimately to the Christ's reign through the Church which ultimately shall subjugate the world through the preaching of the Gospel, and at the end Jesus returns as Lord over all things. It is called POSTmillennialism because Jesus returns after the Millennium.

When it comes to other concepts, things can get even more diverse and complicated.

Ultimately, when it comes to essential Christian teaching on the End there are only a handful of things, which can be found in the Nicene Creed:

"We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ ... He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

...

We look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the Age to Come. Amen.
"

That is to say:

Jesus will return in glory as Judge of the living and the dead.
There will be a resurrection of the body.
There will be a Final Judgment.
God will renew all things in the future age.

I will check this. Do you have a reference for 7 which I have not heard !!
  • one of the differences that I have learned about is that in the Quran it says the world will be still for 7.. thats it! It doesnt say 7 minutes or 7 hours or even 7 years, which is kind of frightening honestly.
Assalāmu ʿalaykum sir,
Did you mean still or silent? Please provide the Surah in question. There is an allusion to silence which can also infer stillness in the prophesy of Revelation when the 7th seal is broken; this occurring immediately prior to the 7 trumpets.

  • Rev 8:1-2 When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets.
  • Some Commentary
    • The half hour's silence contrasts with the previous jubilant songs of the great multitude, taken up by the angels ( Revelation 7:9-11 )
      • After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, they were clothed with white robes with palms in their hands; and they cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
    • The opening of the last seal also introduce a new set of prophetical icons and events in the continual chain of God's providence. This is a chain of events whereby one part is linked to another. Though they may differ in nature and in time, they all make up one wise, well-connected, uniform design in the hand of God.
    • A profound silence in heaven for the space of half an hour may be understood either to infer
      • 1. This is a silence of peace, that for this time no complaints were sent up to the ear of the Lord God of sabaoth; all was quiet and well in the church, and therefore all silent in heaven, for whenever the faithful on earth cries, through oppression, that cry comes up to heaven and resounds there; or,
      • 2. This is a silence of expectation; great things were upon the wheel of providence, and the faithful of God, both in heaven and earth. All stood silent to see what God was doing, according to that of Zec. 2:13, Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord, for he has risen up out of his holy habitation. And elsewhere, Be still, and know that I am God.
In Christ, Patrick

I hope this does not offend you Danish, but what the Mahdi is supposed to accomplish correlates nearly identically with what we expect the antichrist to do. I think that is very important to your question.

For a side by side comparison of the antichrist and the Mahdi see this chart here, scroll to second chart.
