Emotional Healing. There is nothing more difficult to confront than a picture someone has portrayed of you that is a lie to who you know yourself to be. That is the definition of betrayal from another, consciously or subconsciously done.

The betrayal produces feelings, the language of the body. Because the feelings are contradictory to our thoughts of ourselves, which is the language of the mind, there is a confusion of emotions, emotions being the voice of the heart,
and stress, fight or flight is born ….. yet stifled ….. frustrations and angry or tears is the result because no other outlet has been provided to escape from the dualism of the situation.

Emotions are feelings plus thought. Correctly aligned our body and mind communicate and reach agreement. Inward working of knowing thyself that is distinct from the noise of the world and recognizing the emotions balancing to obtain the correct expressions from the heart. Not those of reactions to things of the world, but rather actions from the true sphere in alignment to God’s righteousness.

Thoughts in themselves are pure and we have a right to fully explore every one of them. New knowledge comes from truth built on truth gained from concepts given to us thru intuition. Imaginations are whatever you want them to be, whether born from guilt, shame or whatever. All are conversation starters with Christ.

Emotion collects the information of the bodies state by continuously monitoring the body experience as thoughts roll by.

For out of the heart cometh forth ….

Emotions are therefore natural and important vehicles for self-awareness. Feelings, tied to thoughts, provide a glimpse into our inner and outer realities and needs. Therein is our own truth contained, stored in heaven, for where the heart is our treasure is also.

Together they form the basis for our ability to reason. God calls us to reason together with Him.

Beautifully written, Cassia.

Everything you wrote goes for men as well. To disconnect from personal emotions is to disconnect emotionally from others....which means an inability to genuinely love others.

Yes, it pertains to all. Men, women and children. And what stunts growth too. Thanks for the reply.

Interesting bits and pieces about that in other places like this from The heart of the matter

Emotions proceed from the heart. Romans 10:10 the heart, not the mind, justifies.

Feelings are the language of the body, while thoughts are the language of the mind. Emotions are produced when our bodies and our mind communicate and reach agreement. The result is expression.

Iow, feelings, like that of the inner child, and the thoughts of the adult self, join together to ponder the essence in intuition. The expression is then the voice of the soul, which is the voice of the heart.

“For out of the heart cometh forth … “

Intuition is the receiver of the Spirit in the human spirit. New knowledge as truth, is built on previous truths, gained from concepts given and received intuitively. The intellect and intuition are separate functions. Intellect is soulish (soul-life) and intuition is a function of the human spirit.

Feelings, tied to thought, provide a glimpse into our inner and outer realities. Together they form the basis of the ability to reason. Emotions are an important vehicle for self-awareness.

Especially look at this where it outlines the carnal mind Ephesians 4:17-24 ...
Notes on Hebrews, women of the bible and other biblical things for further investigation

The heart is the conscience of one's spirit plus the mind of one's soul. The heart is the administer for our spirit to express everything that is of the Spirit. And the soul, including what it feels from the outside, connects to the heart where all things are pondered. Yet we do not always do as we ought to do so ..... Therefore at this great 'meeting of the mind of the heart' our true self is revealed to us.

Psalms 4:4
Consider in your heart upon your bed, and be silent.
Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Another helpful antidote ... The difference between guilt and shame.

Guilt of the conscience is a call to mediation, repentance and a new road embarked on, or more probably a return to where one turned away.

Shame is different from guilt. It doesn’t come from within but is placed upon you from without. That’s a call to forgiveness with understanding and is also wrought out in mediation with the Lord, as that is the office He is presiding in and His function in the church age.

(Edit to add)
Forgiveness of others, (that which comes from shame placed upon us), holds no grudges to cause dis-ease of the rest of the body.
Forgiveness of self, (that which comes from guilt) holds no self condemnation that contradicts the fact that God has forgiven us when we simply return to Him.

Hebrews 4:14-16 – "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

Psalms 46:1-3 – "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

There is no other foundation than Christ, Who, in the beginning God, the Word, was as to His essence absolute deity, His glory preexistent in God’s presence before the foundation of the earth.

Because of the fall, chaos. You see, God created something from nothingness and He formed a potentiality into the creation that remained hidden so that the completion would be in the healing (removing) of that which was not inherently in the nature of the created.

Outward expression ought to reflect inward condition. Fashions, habits, speech etc shouldn’t reflect the world and hide the expression that comes from what is intrinsic as children of God.
Expressed should be the inner life, renewed by the Holy Spirit, so the Lord Jesus may be seen. That transfiguration ought to shine with a heavenly radiance that pervades thoughts, words and deeds. That is the tent of abiding. That is in the world but not of the world.

(Edit to add)
Of course that is the ideal and fully acheived only by the man/God Jesus Christ, our example, our justification, our redemption, our reconciliation.
But it is the glorious direction in which He leads when we're yoked/covenanted to Him, and do His bidding by learning of Him.
"Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Everyone has sinned and has come short of the glory of God. But the Lord is the Way, the Truth and the Light. Therefore have boldness to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Christ, by the new and living way, that He has consecrated for all, thru the veil, that is, His flesh.

Lord please, lead us continually into the presence of God to put away sin granted within our reconciliation to You. Amen

Hosea 14:2
Bring your confessions and return to the LORD. Say to Him: "Take away all our iniquity and receive us graciously, that we may present the fruit of our lips.

Joel 2:13
So rend your hearts and not your garments, and return to the LORD your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in loving devotion

Psalms 107:22
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.

Mark 12:33
And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

It’s the struggle that is so difficult,
the wolves within each fighting to get fed,
like good and bad gut buddies that in feeding one or the other they each have their own unique outcome.
But in the Christian struggle it is flesh fighting Spirit and Spirit fighting against the flesh that is so hard to deal with at times.

God wants us to have holiness shining on the inside and righteousness shining on the outside, but tauntingly “Physician heal Thyself” comes into my mind. And without the Holy Spirit working within it’s not even possible!

Cooperation with the Holy Spirit is needed to gain healing for the holes in the soul. And so the death of Christ has made generous provision to help in our time of need. He has ascended and cooperates with us to accomplish the deep healing needed to function in the newness of life so we do not to succumb to the evils of the world.

We can only be responsible for our own actions but how we act toward others has a great outcome on what things we have to deal with ourselves. Peace and joy are what we have been promised and yielding to the yoke of His lead is the way to accomplish that.

Peace

When God says that He desires mercy and not sacrifice He is speaking as the Physician. He hadn’t come to save righteousness but rather to mend that which needs healing. How is healing recognized? In the inner child who can never be refused a place with Him. As adults who are busy riding the tide of world in control we forget the needs of the lowly child who is dependant for it’s needs. Ever present at the throne are the guardians of such. The kingdom is made of such as this.
