Wonder what countries would make people sin though? Or what sins a government could even make you do

In the time the New Testament was written, government-mandated idolatry was a common problem. In Australia, it is not.

Again, it's not the government that marries you.

You - the couple - make the marriage by freely consenting and saying your vows. The government, or clergyperson, are there as witnesses and official recorders, if you like.
