THREAD: The Dancing Hangman
NAME: Elizabeth Shawna Vienne
NICKNAME(s): Shawna(what she has everyone call her), Shawn
AGE: 21
RACE: Human
GENDER: Female
HEIGHT: She's of rather good height, taller than most women, but not considerably tall.
WEIGHT: She's lean, all else matters naught
APPEARANCE: Attractive. She used to be beautiful before her childhood ended, with long light brown hair, brown eyes, ivory skin and pleasant face. At the present, she isn't bad to look at, even though she resembles more a male than a female. Her hair is now considerably lighter, streaked with blonde from being in the sun so much, and cut short for convenience and for looking tougher. Her hair length feathers her jaw, her skin now a healthy tan. As for clothing, nowadays she wears a loose cotton shirt(various colours), brown vest, a large leather belt to hold her weapons, basic dark trousers, and sturdy boots. She always has a red and gold bandana tied around her head, and can often be found with a three-point hat over top, which is adorned with a large blue feather. She has various scars due to her rough life.
PERSONALITY: Nice enough, until you cross her. She's good natured, actually, although she's very competitive. When time calls for it, she can be brutally honest. She hates men for being called 'the stronger gender' and hates women for allowing them to take that title. Yes, she's a diehard feminist. She likes people individually, unless they have rank on her, then she despises them. She sometimes is extremly short tempered, but she knows when and how to be aloof, quiet, and calm.
FAVORITE COLOR/FOOD: Her favorite color is ocean green/blue, and her favorite food is a good beef stew with no onions.
BIO: Elizabeth Shawna Vienne was born into a rich and prestigious family. Shawna, as she preferred to be called, was the youngest of three children born to parents William and Camelia. She always had a free flying, adventerous spirit. Her parents tried very hard to make her into a true lady, which never really worked. Her mother was a strong lady, although she thoroughly believed that women had their place and should always use their manners. Shawna admired her mother, even though she slowly found that she disagreed with her. She thought, My mother is just as strong as my father! Why does she get treated as second rate just because she's female? She never found the answer, so quickly began simmering with anger towards the male gender.
At that point, she was 13 years old and she started taking fencing and swimming lessons. Her brother had run away years ago, seeking fortune outside his father's wealth. Her sister disapproved of Shawna's interests and of how her brother had left. She was also well-bred and accepted her place in society, so Shawna despised her. A year later, her mother died of an illness. Her father, who was an amibitious(kind of greedy, also) man, lost his morals when his wife died, because Camelia made sure William was an honorable man. Furious that God had taken his beloved, he cursed Him and became abusive to Shawna when she refused to obey him. Her sister always had been the pride of William's, and was soon engaged to be married. Terrified by the thought of being alone with her father, spurred on by her brother's escape, and convinced by her mother's death, she too ran away.
Shawna, nearing the age of 15 at this point, went to the streets and started working odd jobs. She found men to be disgustingly attracted to her so she chopped her locks short and assumed the identity of a boy named "Shawn". Working as a cleaner in a tavern, she overheard about work on various pirate ships. Jumping aboard one,(The Tinwhistle) she found life was harder than she thought on a pirate ship, but she loved being on sea. When her time was finished with the Tinwhistle, she found she was on the other side of the ocean, so when needed she actually does state her real surname, even though she's heard rumors about her father offering a large award for her capture and return.
Ever since then, she has posed as a boy and learned to fence(pirate style), fight, outwit, shoot a gun(and a cannon!), outthink, cook, steer a ship, and various other things. Only a few people on the Hangman are outright told she is a woman, like Captain Jack, which was only because she was a woman and a Captain, Shawna's hope for her own future. She often talks about(to those who know) why women are just as good, or better, as men. She is furiously jealous of the first mate on the Dancing Hangman, because she was outdone by a man. She is always challenging him to a fight because of this. Her goal is to be the first mate.
