To continue in worldly ways is to be vulnerable to deceptions, confusion,
iniquity and all manner of evil.
James 3:
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that
his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie
against the Truth.
15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, there is confusion and all manner of evil.
Repent from all ungodly practices
2 Corinthians 12:
19 Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ.
But we do all things, beloved, for your edification.
20 For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be
found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts
of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;
21 lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn
for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness,
fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
Avoid disputes and contentions that create division
Titus 3:
9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law;
for they are unprofitable and useless.
10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,
11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.
2 Corinthians 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant
of his devices.
Liberty is to serve one another
Galatians 5:
13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity
for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another!
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Sealed until the Day of Redemption
Ephesians 4:
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary
edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the
day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you,
with all malice.
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in
Christ forgave you.
