Is this title okay?
If not a mod can change it to "Duck? Duck? Goose?" if they so wish.

So, I've been going out for walks regularly of late to lose weight. And a route I regularly walk takes me down a canal.
I see a lot of the usual birds.
Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Swans, those...black ones with the white faces+beak and huge feet. But there are also a pair of birds of which I've never seen before.

So...I took a picture and wonder if any of the folk here would have some idea.

Sorry about the quality, this is quite zoomed in.
Typically, just as I put my phone away, they walked right up to me.

They have orange eyes, for what it's worth.
They look more like a kind of duck to me, than a goose.

Any ideas my internet ducktectives?

They're Egyptian Geese. An introduced species common to parks. In California they've established a breeding population and are a countable species. Not sure about their status in Great Britain.

Cool birds. I'd like to see one someday.

"...Great Britain, the Netherlands, France, and Germany have self-sustaining populations which are mostly derived from escaped ornamental birds...
In Britain, it is found mainly in East Anglia, in parkland with lakes. It was officially declared a pest in the U.K. in 2009."
Cool I guess.
East Anglia is North East of Greater London, for what it's worth. Can't imagine them crossing suburban London to get to the canal, but they must of got here somehow...

Don't blame the bird for being successful. :)
