Hello all

I suffer from severe nightmares on a near daily basis which leads to me forcing myself to stay awake. I've tried many medications for my sleep. I've tried prazosin and even at 5mg, it's not effective. I've been taken off it now though.

Anyways, I suffer really badly from these nightmares. They aren't your usual, 'Ah, I'm falling!' Nope, instead they show war, horror, violence, destruction, insanity, death, and so much more. Half the time I wonder where the thoughts come from considering some days I've done nothing but watch good things.

I have brought a Dream Catcher, not to idolize it of course, but to focus on it before I sleep. Something to guide my attention away from my own thoughts as I drift off. I have heard it's worked for many people who've done what I've explained but many have also said that it's not of a Christian nature to be using dream catchers. I see no harm in it because I'm not hailing it. I'm just using it as a distraction. I don't bow to it and I definitely don't see it as some sort of spiritual gate world thing.

Am I alright to be using it for the purpose I intend or no?

I find when I have those types of dreams that I wake up dehydrated and the nightmares are my body’s attempt to wake me up. Also given the bizarre, immature, and frankly frightening behavior of one of the most powerful men on the planet I’m also not surprised that I have these nightmares.

Dream Catchers are harmless and decorative . They’re pleasant to look at . I also don’t have an ignorant, superstitious attitude towards using harmless or positive things from another faith tradition

I would be cautious. Objects associated with or used by pagan ideas, practices, or beliefs are not spiritually healthy, even if we don't use them for ritual or ceremonial purposes. I would just be careful, and consider buying a mobile. Native American worship has traditionally focused on nature deities, spirits, animal deities, ancestors, and the earth.

Every traditional culture, even the pagan cultures of Europe, had to be evangelized, so this is nothing against Native Americans as a race or as peoples. Hanging on to or using objects associated with paganism, in any form, can be dangerous.

I have brought a Dream Catcher
That is cute but what you need is the BLOOD OF JESUS. Satan and his demons use to attack me in my sleep. What I did was every night as I was falling asleep I would lay hands on my pillow and pray the Blood of Jesus. Before long it all went away and I started to have peace when I was sleeping. The enemy has to flee from the Blood of Jesus.

A dream catcher is nothing more than a placebo so you should be OK. Placebos have been known to help some people :)

I would at least replace it with a cross; something to help you think of Jesus.

Simple question.

Would you buy a picture of Satan to hang on your wall?

If your answer is no definitely not, then ask yourself, what is the difference between a picture of Satan which I don't worship, and a Dream catcher which is used in a Pagan Religion, even though I don't worship it either.

The answer to that question is, there is no difference one is the picture of The Father of Lies, and the other is the physical depiction (Presence) of a Lie of Satan.

By your using it as a Dream Catcher which it is intended for, you are in essence Conjuring Spirits to protect your sleep, which is in itself Witchcraft.

What you should do is, go to a sleep specialist, and get diagnosed for what is actually wrong, that make these dreams happen.

PS.
Burn The Dream Catcher, it is an Implement used in Pagan Worship.

@Joshua S :

I second the above, as this is a sound advice.

Dream catchers, are based upon Pagan practices. They involve a connection to the spirit world. The fact is the spirit behind dream catchers is an ungodly spirit. As a Christian you should never seek spiritual healing, or help, outside of God.

As for your dreams you need to ask yourself, a) is there any sin you have allowed in your life that could have opened you up to these vivid dreams, b) if there is no sin then you need to be praying that God protect you from these dreams.

It's obvious some people in this thread need to do more research on Dream Catchers. I'm not talking about those that say there is nothing wrong with them either.

As someone who is part Native American that has a Dream Catcher and each of my kids have one above their beds here at my home and in their mom's, I find some of the comments offensive!

My advice is to think about one or more of your favorite Scriptures. (Found God wants me to turn to Him)

Like these ! ?

You would do better to get an icon and focus on it.

I watched a testimony once (Jesus visited them are usually the ones i watch) where someone described a dreamcatcher, i can't remember whether the context was good or bad, but if its not described in the bible i wouldn't do it (i'm native from Canada). Also Jesus can heal everything and anything, he has all the power and we humans do not need anything or protection from anyone aside from Jesus and Creator and who/what he sends to help us. You might be a prophet if you're having those dreams but i don't know, just pray and ask jesus for help and protection and he will show you when you're ready. I'm not sure myself i'm just figuring everything out myself. But some things i do know now, and that is that i/we have all the protection and health we need through Jesus and anything bad that happens to us happens for a reason and we just pray and trust Creator for guidance

Have you looked at your diet? I think some foods can be triggers for bad dreams etc. Lifestyle?

Chuck dreamcatcher in the bin. Focus on Jesus instead.

God bless you

Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with that.

Having said that though, motive counts for a lot here. If you keep it simply for aesthetic value then I guess there's no harm. I don't allow them in my home but I understand that people think they're attractive to look at.

Still, I would caution you that belief in the actual power or spiritual value of such an object is superstition and that's a No Go Zone.

If you want as decoration... well, I don't encourage it but what the hay? But if you think it confers some sort of benefit or value or power, I would say keep it out of your home.
