Dow Jones Crashes, Trump and Gundlach Blame Democrats

Trump and Gundlach blame the Democrats
Meanwhile, as the Dow Jones crashed over the last few trading sessions, DoubleLine Capital CEO Jeffrey Gundlach and President Trump blamed Democrats. In an email to CNBC, Gundlach said, “The market goes down in a knee jerk way on the Bernie rise, but the market going down makes Bernie’s polls go up on his rejection of a market based economy. Which makes the market go down another leg.”

President Trump held a press conference on Wednesday in a bid to calm nerves amid the Dow Jones crash. While he admitted that concerns about the coronavirus spreading have led to the sell-off, he also added a twist. President Trump put some of the blame on Democrats.

Trump says ‘quite a bit’ of sell-off is fear a Democrat will win election, along with coronavirus

Hi MM,

I wonder who didn't see that coming?

God bless,
In Christ, ted

Hi ted

Yes, the thought of the coronavirus possibly hitting the US hard along with many wondering now how we could ever pay for Bernie's give away plans, the market will probably take some major hits until the coronavirus is under control and when the People realize that Bernie will not be elected.

Then --
back to 4 more prosperous years under Trump.

He is delusional. Wall Street fears a pandemic and sold stock because fear of viral pneumonia is disrupting trade and commerce. The stock market goes up, Trump takes credit. The market goes down he blames the Democrats. The Democrats are pro-healthcare more than Trump. The Democrats have problems with communist elements trying to take control. Trump is wrong about what is causing this downturn. Trump is not always wrong, but he tries to manipulate public opinion with false statements.

Bond king Jeff Gundlach claims Bernie Sanders is responsible for the market sell-off — even as other experts cite coronavirus fear | Markets Insider

"If this stock market reversal is due exclusively to the virus, then why is United Healthcare down far more than [the S&P 500]?" Gundlach asked CNBC's Scott Wapner in an email. "Why is healthcare as a sector broadly not outperforming?" Answer to these questions: The market is digesting a better than 50% chance of Bernie getting the nomination."

Aha - it was all someone else's fault. Of course.

The markets are largely affected by fear. When times are good and there appears nothing to be concerned about, the market does well. But when suddenly something happens that concerns the market, stocks begin to fall. And it could be any number of things.

Presidents and government can certainly have some effect by the actions they take. We could certainly point to actions Trump has taken that has helped build confidence and increases the market.

The question is why is the market fearful and you have to look for cause. For those that would like to blame Trump, what specifically has he done that would cause fear in the market? Has he made some major decisions in the last couple of weeks that could cause fear in the market. If not him then has Congress made any moves that would put fear i. The market. If you can't poi t out anything specific then you have to look at other causes. And i can't think of anything that Trump or Congress has done, including the democrats, that would put fear in the market to cause a sell off.

So we look elsewhere. And there are two major culprits here. The virus being one, and the Democratic race. An obvious push to Socialism which absolutely would scare the market. Although at this point it could be a bit premature, but there is an obvious move by the democrats towards that.

I'm more inclined to believe at this point it's the virus that's really causing the problem. Because the virus is affecting or will affect the global economy. There may be a very small part of this due to the Dems, but I'm much more convinced it's the virus.

The healthcare sector is worried because Trump wants to do away with Obamacare. He has also asked for spending cuts to Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. These programs are used by US citizens to pay their medical bills and boosts healthcare stocks. The main reason for the drop in stock prices is the virus epidemic.
