Rioters storm Sri Lanka's Parliament building and the president's residence, and forces the resignation of the country's elected president, but the MSM reports it as being "protests". It's quite the double-standard when compared to Jan. 6th in America.

"The announcement of the president’s resignation came hours after protesters swarmed into his fortified residence in Colombo. Video images showed jubilant crowds taking a dip in the garden pool. Some people lay on the home’s beds, while others made tea and issued statements from a conference room demanding the departure of both Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It was not clear if Rajapaksa was there at the time, and government spokesman Mohan Samaranayake said he had no information about the president’s movements.

Protesters also broke into the prime minister’s private residence and set it on fire, Wickremesinghe’s office said. It wasn’t immediately clear if he was there when the incursion happened."
Sri Lanka's president to resign amid economic turmoil, official says

"U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung on Friday asked people to protest peacefully and called for the military and police “to grant peaceful protesters the space and security to do so.”

A little late for that!

I've been watching Sri Lanka the last few months. It seems like it is a kind of Bellwether, Canary in the coal mine, for the rest of the World.

A few months ago there was a video on You-tube that spoke about Sri Lanka as showing a "Perfect Storm" where several factors come together to cause mega problems. In the case of the video it was Sri Lanka's
debt before Covid, and all the Covid problems including inflation and hoarding, supply chain issues etc. coming together to make big problems like them running out of printer ink in their schools and having to send kids home because they could not print out tests and other materials they needed.

i heard there were having some kind of rioting over there isn't it over climate change or something?

They have gone bankrupt.
Inflation is running at 50%
The country doesn't have enough fuel for essential services like buses, trains and medical vehicles, and cant afford to buy more

It's due to complete financial mismanagement. For instance:
When Sri Lanka's foreign currency shortages became a serious problem in early 2021, the government tried to limit them by banning imports of chemical fertiliser.

It told farmers to use locally sourced organic fertilisers instead.

This led to widespread crop failure. Sri Lanka had to supplement its food stocks from abroad, which made its foreign currency shortage even worse.

Sri Lanka: Why is the country in an economic crisis?
