Question: As I understand it (and I could have gotten wrong information) the Dormition Fast and the Apostle's Fast are considered "Minor Fasts" in comparison to the Great Fast of Lent and the Nativity Fast.

Right or wrong?

If this is right, then is the fasting not as severe as during the Lenten season? As I have come to understand, the Lenten Fast, being a penitential fast, is supposed to be the most strict.

Kindly correct me.

Thank you.

One other oddball question - - - someone told me that in a really strict fast you do not eat until noon.

Yes? No?

I think technically it’s nothing til Vespers, aside from water if need be.

could be wrong, though.

I thought this depended on an individual's discipline honestly. St Gregory Palamas actually said it was better to eat small meals throughout the day instead of not eating at all and eating a lot at night. I am not saying I personally agree with this, but I suppose it is different for everyone.
