In the past I have commented or asked questions on the Messianic Jewish forum and no one ever responds to me....am I being offensive since I am a woman....I admit freely I know hardly anything about this faith and even when I look it up it doesn't clear up the questions I have very well.
So I really would appreciate any information on this because I hate to be in ignorance.....although I did go see the movie Yentel years ago....women weren't even allowed to study the scriptures back then.

Women are allowed to study the Scriptures today. (in most places I know of - although much of the world / nations with oppressive leaders , perhaps women (and men and children ) are NOT allowed to even have a Bible or cannot afford one) ....

Yes, today is quite different, I can't remember the time setting of that movie but there wasn't much modern technology in it....a ship sailing for America was about the only thing mechanical/electrical or whatever in it.
Did you have an answer to my other question....I will be specific about what I shared there....it was about Yom Kippur and I am extremely interested in learning and studying the Jewish Feasts, Tabernacles and Holidays...

Hello, Heart2Soul. I cannot answer your questions, but if you give it a few hours so that people can notice the new topic, I am sure you'll have a bunch of replies from people who can.

I think there is a site/ webpage something like Hebrews4Christians with a lot of potentially good information. Double check everything more than once with Scripture and do not believe or accept something until you know it is in line with all Scripture,
no matter where the source (even "TEST the spirits" ! is a strict instruction from Yahweh in Scripture) .....

There are two forms of Messianic faith... if you want to call it that. The first is Messianic Judaism... where you'll find Jewish people who have embraced Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and most (by no means all) still keep the Feasts, Sabbath, eat kosher, etc. The other group is the non-Jews who have come to the same conclusion concerning the feasts, Sabbath, clean eating (etc.) but who generally meet with other non-Jewish groups.

Beyond the desire to honor the Sabbath, refrain from unclean foods, and observe the other feasts... you will only find a few other differences between them and a mainstream Christian. And those differences tend to be tied to the mainstream generally seeing themselves as replacing Israel (a notion rejected by the Messianics) and also certain prophetic events that have yet to occur.

Thanks, very informative....but on the matter of responding when I post a question....am I offending those of that faith since I am not a Jew....I am thinking I must be because no one ever communicates with me. I don't want to be offensive and if I am going against their doctrine of faith I will respectfully not post anything.

Rather than martyr yourself because you are a woman, create a gender neutral profile and ask your question. chances are you would get the same response as Messianic jews are few and far between, more over those who feel like they are authorities on the subject probably don't frequent this site. and those that do may simply not have an answer for you.

I would be like me asking questions of 1/2 korean american with blue eyes answer a very specific issue people of split races may have. If no one answers I don't think I am hated because of my blue or brown eye problems. I simply think there simply are not enough people comfortable with the subject I posted about.

No, I can't imagine you offended anyone. Here's the thing... when you make a new thread it shows up on the side of the home page and it attracts folks. But if it gets buried by other new threads quickly, the window for others seeing it is small and it might simply get lost.

By the way, what I shared before is a generalization. It was accurate but not detailed. If you have other questions I would be happy to help if I can. I have been an elder at one of those non-Jewish groups for 15 years now.

    Blessings.

Perhaps not really the place for this, but I have always found it odd how one claims to accept Jesus yet still follows the laws of the Old Covenant. It's no longer necessary in most cases.

I honestly doubt it has anything to do with whether or not your female, likely it's more that there are very few real messianic Jews and the ones that exist probably don't have a presence on this website.

Who your wanting to speak to are actually converted from the Jewish faith, and there's likely precious few of those running around. You might do better learning Judaism from Jews and then learning how that ties into our faith.

To me it is more (very) strange that some claim Jesus as Lord, but do not obey Him any day ? !

You're right, this isn't the thread for this. But I do have my answers, not to say I am correct. In very short, I see the "old" as that which was on stone, but that which was on stone has been/is being moved to the mind and heart directly by God. So it isn't the covenant that is old, it is the delivery mechanism, so to speak. Ezekiel said that God would remove the stony heart and replace it with a heart of flesh.... Law on stone, Law on the heart. I also believe, that the "new" covenant is actually the everlasting covenant renewed as both the Hebrew word in Jer. 31:31 for "new" and the Greek word where that verse is repeated in Heb. 8:8 mean renew... not brand new... but new in regards to freshness.

But again, that is a nutshell answer in the wrong thread. Feel free to start a new thread and then tag me or shoot me a PM if you care to.

    Blessings.
    Ken

I think for some Jews, Jesus will reveal himself as the son of God and they will have the chance to get saved then in Revelation....That's how I was taught anyway and to tell you the truth I have never sought any further understanding of it....I just always accepted them as His chosen and they will be restored to Him.

Thanks for this practical reasoning....and you may be quite right...but it has happened more than once and I was starting to think maybe they aren't allowed to speak to non-Jewish Christians. Like I said I am very lacking in knowledge of the faith....I have been studying some the past few months on the feasts and tabernacles because it relates to His return as I have come to learn.

Oh my that's absurd! Sorry, that was strong but y'all are talking like the Messianic Jews are from some other planet! All the ones I know are great people and I learn much because they know the OT and traditions and now they also are able to link and deepen the understanding of the NT as well. :D

I studied Hebrew 5 years and met some good people who loved to discuss The Lord!

I think that the subject matter is just so deep, and you didn't offer any real substance in your search. I almost didn't reply here because I was wondering just how much research have you done on your own, or are you just here picking our brains instead. No offense... but decided to give you those 2 links of great resources on Messianic websites. :)

Yes... as for the Lord's return... is probably will occur in the 'fall' of the year... Jesus kept all the spring festivals while here, and the fall festivals fits with prophecy very well.... such as...

No man knows the day nor hour but we will know the season.

This easily refers to the start of Rosh hakodesh (head of the year).. where 2 witnesses must see the new moon....then go and tell the Rabbi who announces the beginning of the new year. THIS is how we will know the season, but not the day nor hour because it takes 2 people to notice and report... which can happen over a 2 day period (knowing that any part of a day or night is counted as a day or night in Jewish tradition.)

The New Moon: Rosh Chodesh http://telshemesh.org/water/jewish_cycles_of_the_moon_jill_hammer.html

In biblical times, Rosh Chodesh was a festival, and priests offered special celebratory sacrifices (Numbers 29:6). In rabbinic times, when a court of rabbinic judges sat in Jerusalem, witnesses came to the court every month to announce that they had seen the new moon, and Jews lit bonfires on the mountains to announce its arrival (Mishnah Rosh haShanah 1:1-9). Today Rosh Chodesh remains a minor holiday for all traditional Jews, marked by the reciting of special Psalms and sections of the Torah.

According to both the Talmud and mystical tradition, the new moon is a time to celebrate the reappearance of the Shekhinah, the feminine Divine presence (Babylonian talmud, Sanhedrin 42a).

Well not from some other planet....lol......it is foreign to me however....that is why I am eager to learn.
My thread title should have prepared you and I admit freely I didn't know much....so be nice....don't shame me...lol....I have read a lot of threads here and on other forums relating to Jewish Calendar and end times....so I do admit this isn't the best place to learn but it is a start....when I can afford it I am enrolling in an online program to study the Torah and the Jewish customs, etc...learn some Hebrew...as the Holy Spirit leads me. God Bless.
