Trump's claim of no Saudi financial ties is misleading
Trump said, "I have no financial interests in Saudi Arabia."

We found no evidence that Trump or the Trump Organization owns property in Saudi Arabia.

However, Trump has profited handsomely from business dealings with Saudis dating back at least to the 1990s.

Even during his presidency, Trump hotels continues to earn business from the Saudi government, reports show. In fact, Trump’s Washington hotel’s acceptance of payments from foreign governments — including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — is the basis on an ongoing lawsuit against Trump.

We rate this Half True.

Everyone who wants to by gas at a cheaper price has a financial interest in Saudi Arabia....just sayin'.

Did you not know that the U.S. is now a net exporter of petroleum products and in four years is on track to become an net exporter of crude oil? We are presently over 90 percent energy independent.

The world has changed, and the Saudis are now in a different position than they were just a few years ago.

Of course, but this doesn't change the fact that if Saudi Arabia were to deliver a supply shock to oil markets that it would hit Americans at the gas pump. It's simple supply and demand.

The problem for them is that although oil has lower prices, their costs haven't dropped. They can't shake the market the way they used to, without the danger of provoking unrest at home. Natural gas has greatly reduced the demand for oil, and we're pumping all we can get.

It's simple supply and demand.

Well, not exactly simple, but you have that right.
