President Trump has scored a hat trick of nominations for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize, this time for the president’s foreign policy philosophy, dubbed the “Trump Doctrine,” according to a report.

“What he has done with the Trump Doctrine is that he has decided he would no longer have America involved in endless wars, wars which achieve nothing but the killing of thousands of young Americans and enormous debts imposed on America,” Australian law professor David Flint told Sky News Australia on Sunday. “He’s reducing America’s tendency to get involved in any and every war.”

You realize these nominations don’t really mean much, right? Getting three Nobel nominations isn’t like getting three Oscar nominations. It’s more like getting three votes for an Oscar nomination.

Either way - the peace prize for not doing anything? Isn’t that what you guys derided Obama for?

Depends on what it was for to me. They started cheapening it through partisan politics.

I think literally everyone (probably including himself) was embarrassed by Obama being given the peace prize.

That’s grand.

So what military activities has Trump curtailed since stepping in to office ?

Which troops have gotten home ?

Where is US not officially fighting sine Trump got the Presidency compared to previous administration ?

Also the amount of people able to nominate someone is pretty long. Getting three nominations doesn’t look like a Herculean effort.

Then why are so many people so miffed over it? Get over it. Trump has gotten positive recognition and praise over some actions he had undertaken. Can life continue knowing Trump is getting positive attention?

Then why are so many people so miffed over it?

Maybe to offset people that think it means something great ?

Something that literally every professor, current or retired can do.

Trump may need to hear how special he is all the time but adults don’t.

Nobel Peace Prize: UN World Food Programme wins for efforts to combat hunger

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said the WFP was declared winner of the prestigious award "for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contribution to bettering conditions for peace in conflict-affected areas and for acting as a driving force in efforts to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict".

Chairwoman Berit Reiss-Andersen said that with this year's award the committee wanted to "turn the eyes of the world to the millions of people who suffer from or face the threat of hunger".

"The World Food Programme plays a key role in multilateral co-operation in making food security an instrument of peace," she told a news conference in Oslo.

"The coronavirus pandemic has contributed to a strong upsurge in the number of victims of hunger in the world," it wrote in a statement.

"In the face of the pandemic, the World Food Programme has demonstrated an impressive ability to intensify its efforts."

Earlier this year, the WFP warned that the world was at risk of widespread famines "of biblical proportions" as a result of the pandemic.

The agency was established in 1961, following calls from former US President Dwight D Eisenhower for "a workable scheme" to be devised for providing food aid through the UN system.

I don't recall seeing anyone "miffed" or "salty." Not that there aren't any, just I haven't seen them here. Instead, I've largely seen bemusement that these nominations have been taken so seriously that some feel they need to crow about them on Christian Forums (and other sites), as well as the fact that Trump allegedly has lobbied so hard to get these nominations.

In anything, the people who seem "salty" or "miffed" are those that complain about Obama winning the Peace Prize -- particularly Trump.

Obama camp angry, embarrassed over 2009 Nobel Prize: official
The Associated Press · Posted: May 15, 2014 5:24 PM ET | Last Updated: May 15, 2014

A senior Norwegian diplomat says his country's former ambassador to the United States was given a verbal lashing by Barack Obama's chief of staff when the president was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.

Morten Wetland said Thursday the ambassador, Wegger Stroemmen, was approached by Rahm Emanuel, now Chicago's mayor, who accused Norway of "fawning" to the newly elected U.S. leader.

"I think everyone wanted to know what motivated the [awarding] committee. But when I was going down to the UN in New York, nobody talked about it," he said. "It was weird because the UN is a talking shop. And people just looked at their shoes. People didn't raise it with me."

But as many critics pointed out, Obama had been in office only 12 days before the nomination deadline date and was surprised when he was contacted.

"To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who have been honored by this prize," Obama said when he heard the news.
