Trump said, "Yesterday we had the strongest dollar in the history of our country."

That’s not the case — the overall dollar index and one-to-one comparisons with the Euro, the yen and the yuan have all been stronger for the United States for long stretches of time in recent years. We rate the statement False.

We don't know what data Trump was referring to.
Statistics can change based on how you are calculating.
If he is trying to take credit, then going back 40 years
is sufficient to say his presidency covers the strongest
dollar in four decades. In spite of what his detractors would
have you believe about the harm he has caused.

He wasn't saying that history will show that "the US dollar
has never been stronger than yesterday" even though that
is what his claim implied.

No, he doesn't lie he exaggerates - what you and the anti-trump people need to know is that anything he says requires interpretation, mental gymnastics, and eventually referencing the trump/sanders playbook. Supporters are able, as noted above, to spin, twist, rationalize, and untangle his bloviations into something resembling coherence. Essentially as noted elsewhere "If you understand what he said then you don't know what he means, if you understand what he means then you don't know what he said". (?)
